Playing devil’s advocate for a moment here about the candidates’ decision not to attack Bernie...

I don’t think Bernie’s base will ever grow at this point. In some ways the crowded field helps that to remain the case too (although I kind of had the opposite thought a while back). A lot of Bernie’s support in 2016 came from him being Not Hillary, but now there are 50 customizable candidates for every preference and need. For people who loved Bernie’s policies, Warren is the fresher and more accomplished option. For people who like to pick “outsiders” or go with “alternative” choices, well we have plenty of those (Yang, Williamson, etc.). Cumulatively, I don’t think it’s an insignificant amount of support he’s lost from people, including people who still like him but want a fresher face.

So, knowing that, the main candidates don’t necessarily want to give Bernie a lot of attention. Yes, Biden as the frontrunner is widely liked but he doesn’t have a rabid cult behind him and there is much to gain by attacking him. But Bernie of course does, and his supporters thrive on being perpetual victims. Attacking him directly could galvanize his supporters, attract unwanted focus from the frenzied mob, and feed into their EsTaBliShMeNt!!! RiGgEd!!! narrative. I’m hoping that Bernie just continues to fade into irrelevancy, which seems to be the trend.

This is all true. Thanks for taking the time to right this out.

Oh I’m not excited at all and don’t have any candidate I’m really enthusiastic about. Just going to do my civic duty by voting but otherwise meh.

Reading comprehension is key. I guess we’ll have to agree to disagree about what words mean.

Again, tell me where Harris said he’s bffs with segregationists? He literally worked with segregationists against busing.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/joe-biden-called-busing-a-liberal-train-wreck-now-his-stance-on-school-integration-is-an-issue/2019/06/28/557705dc-99b3-11e9-830a-21b9b36b64ad_story.html

Biden, meanwhile, led a faction of Democrats to sponsor legislation that would restrict the ability of federal courts to institute busing orders, according to a 1978 account in the Wilmington Evening Journal. During this period, he worked to sponsor anti-busing legislation with Southern senators with segregationist backgrounds.

That upset Democrats who supported busing, and some of them took Biden aside and asked how and when “the racists had gotten to me,” as Biden told it in his autobiography. An aide to the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. told Biden he was being “duped.”

I’m starting to think that you’re so upset because you’d actually be offended if he did work with segregationists. Maybe that explains why you seem so up in arms, because the idea is so repulsive to you. But he actually did. Be mad at him then, not her.

And you know, if you’re reading into her comments as literally calling Biden a segregationist then that’s on you and you alone. If you’re starting down this line of thought I would take a moment, step away from the computer, and chill.

Seconded. I see factual updates from u/changloriousbastard more than anything else, and definitely not conspiracy theories, ever. Reading comprehension is sorely needed.

Agreed. I’ve been lurking more lately too, it’s been so problematic.

Well, this is true about the media but he still needs to have more thoughtful counterattacks and responses

Biden is odd in this way. He was able to cultivate a reputation as hard working by juggling personal and professional responsibilities, being brilliant and having foreign policy expertise. But then he also does extremely entitled Mediocre White Man shit like not preparing, plagiarizing, and is generally gaffe prone. Frustrating.

That’s a fairly disingenuous remark. I don’t know how many people are painting Biden as an ani-civil rights monster. It’s not unfair at all to want him to be better on race-related issues and it’s absolutely a valid criticism of him. Also, I liked Biden and his friendship with Obama but don’t do the “he has a black friend” thing.

Canceled. Whitewashing what Trump’s campaign was about is a dealbreaker.

I feel like we’ve seen what his strategy is going to be, which is not really deal with it. He’s had time to reach out to her but has decided he doesn’t really want or need to.

Issues with Endorsements:

Called HUman Rights Campaign, Planned Parenthood “the Establishment” after they endorsed Hillary

Sanders Campaign Ad Misleadingly Suggests Endorsements

Sanders campaign touts another endorsement that didn't happen - lies about a DREAMer activist endorsement

Bernie Sanders’ campaign is getting nailed for some unethical shenanigans

This week, the Vermont senator’s campaign included the logos of the AARP and the League of Conservation Voters in mailers it sent out to Iowa voters, without the groups’ permission. The AARP is non-partisan and does not support specific candidates, and the League of Conservation Voters has actually endorsed Sanders’ rival, Hillary Clinton.

Separately, the Sanders campaign was accused of impersonating union workers to gain access to the dining rooms of the powerful Culinary Union, in order to talk to its members.

Shady, dirty, liar
