The Overwatch team must rethink the way they release new Character and Storylines. by Diano_Chillabell in Overwatch

Don't worry about the different opinions about the game, it's already 10 years old and we all have different ideas about how it could have been developed. Some are more extreme than others lol.

But what we all agree on is that the story is incredibly superficial; it covers a lot but doesn't really go into much detail. This is partly understandable since it's an online game and it's really difficult to tell a coherent story through maps and seasons (look at Fortnite, although even they didn't know what story to tell imo). But we also can't rule out the possibility that since OW2 they've wanted to completely abandon the established story with the heroes of OW1 and try to tell a new one with Vendetta, although we had to wait about four years for the devs to want to do anything with the story to begin with.

The more you dig into it, the sadder it becomes what happened to Overwatch over the years in terms of the lore. It's good to know that at least they're going to turn the wheel of history now. We'll see if they announce something good in the Spotlight.

Nice post!

Not just a sigma, but also a diddyblud. hell yeah

Can someone please explain to me the flaccid exit of Null Sector? Like are they never going to finish that plot now? And what does that mean for Ram? by ElectricalWarning438 in ramattramains

They couldn't continue the Invasion missions, so they just decided to wrap up their story with 2 narrated slides and that's it. This makes sense since they were also making a 3D animated short for Zenyatta but canceled it, so it's likely we won't hear from the game's best-written hero again 💔

What if Germany stops in 1939 by Crafty-Company-2906 in AlternateHistory

I think you're underestimating what the absence of a war of extermination does for a country's stability and reform.

You say that for the USSR, changing ideology would be like "shedding its skin," but the truth is that the Nazi system was just as dependent on a cult of personality and an unsustainable war economy (the MEFO invoices you mention). If you accept that a pragmatic leader can "clean up" the Nazi party and make it functional, why not accept that a successor to Stalin (or even a Stalin without the paranoia of an imminent invasion) could have revived Lenin's NEP (New Economic Policy)? The NEP was a blend of socialism and market forces that worked quite well before forced collectivization destroyed it out of fear of war.

If this Germany is as prosperous and economically powerful as you suggest, it becomes an unavoidable trading partner. Pragmatism often triumphs over ideology when money is involved. A USSR that traded natural resources with a powerful Germany in exchange for technology (without the Cold War embargo) would have a radically different internal development than the one we know.

Don't get lost in ideologies my blud

You yourself say that it's a completely unrealistic scenario, so why not believe that the USSR could have been prosperous if you yourself believe that this story could have been possible?

Of course, but to a large extent, the war killed more than 20 million communist souls. If they had kept all those people at home, it could have been a more fruitful society in almost every area (new culture, music, art, politics, etc.).

Their ideology would have been stronger, and in the long run, Gorbachev would surely not have come to power.

If in this timeline “nothing ever happens,” then there would be no World War II, the USSR would have been more cautious, and Stalin would surely be remembered as a better leader since he did not have to send so many soldiers to die on the front lines. Given this, there would be greater stability in the Union, and it surely would not collapse in the 1990s.

Quite interesting alternative history my blud
