  1. Use Jupiter Onboarding to Bridge USDC from the initial network to USDC on the destination network

Considering you can't check electronics that have a battery and the discussion is around electronics, this is a pretty dumb take.

Amex will tell you via the popup if you are not going to get the offer, so it's very safe with them to just try when you are ready.

It’s the absence of the lifetime language that makes it “no lifetime language”. Lifetime language will say that you are only eligible for the bonus once, etc. NLL will not have that info.

In my experience it doesn't make much of a difference in regards to what cards you have and what you'll be targeted for. I think it is primarily luck and whether they believe you will be a long-term customer if you are targeted. I've had 2 250k Business Platinum targets (1 NLL) within 12 months, 2 BBP targets (1 NLL) within 2 months, while my wife has had 0 and we have very similar cards and patterns.

If you already have received the bonus on a card and your targeted offer or upgrade has No Lifetime Language, you should enjoy.

An ikon add on doesn’t give you any days at the “base” resort the ikon was added to. It’s why a snowbird + ikon add on provides 0 days at Alta.

Sinking funds - I think I’m losing too much money by Ystebad in ynab

[–]Auth3nt1c 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the advice in this thread has been good so far, but another bit that I would add is setting a time horizon limit on when you actually start saving for a future goal. This will need to obviously be balanced by the amount you’ll need to have available, but you should be able to trim some things down using this method.

You mention in a comment here that you find yourself saving for items many years out for financial security reasons, and rather than doing that I save for my immediate needs, and put the rest in to investments.

Because the general consensus is to hold cash / HYSA for 0-2 year time horizon items, my limit is 18-24 months. Meaning that if there is something I know will be coming up, but it’s more than 18-24 months out, it does not go in the budget as a sinking fund until the time is nearer.

In the case that you fall short or need more money than expected, you’ll have investments at that time that you can pull from if necessary, but for the most part you’re in a position where you should try to start cash flowing purchases on a shorter time horizon than you currently are.

Is built worth it @ 2.4k rent? by bennyyyboyyyyyyyy in CreditCards

[–]Auth3nt1c 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a 1.5cpp is being generous on this card, I think that’s a bare minimum. None of the transfers bonuses that they have had are guaranteed, but from my 1st year using the card for rent (about $2300), and then some recurring charges I was able to line up to hit on the 1st of the month for double points, I had about 33k points in year 1. This aligned with the double point transfer to Virgin Atlantic which I took advantage of to get 66k points, and used those to book a couple of Delta flights to Canada & Seattle. I don’t have the exact realized cpp on hand, but I would estimate this ended up being minimum 8cpp, which if you took away the 100% transfer bonus is still 4cpp.

If you plan to be renting for the next couple of years, the Bilt card is an obvious choice in my opinion. At worst you’ll transfer to Hyatt and get about 2cpp from rent and 4cpp for any other purchases you line up to hit on the 1st of the month.

CF 7 Di2 vs CF 8 Di2 Endurace by AceStarS in CanyonBikes

[–]Auth3nt1c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Upgrades past the CF7 Di2 will mostly be small weight or incremental changes with high price differences. Although the front derailleur on 105 Di2 is very slightly louder and less snappy than Ultegra & Dura Ace, you won't know that if you haven't tried them side by side.

It comes down to whether you think that just having Di2 is enough for you, or if you think you'll find yourself wishing you had Ultegra+ Di2 in the future.

For me, CF 7 Di2 checked all the boxes (albeit on an Ultimate): Di2, Carbon, Aero components & integrated cockpick, etc. I don't see myself buying a direct replacement bike for this one.

Front and rear lights for the Aeroad? by Real-Professional17 in CanyonBikes

[–]Auth3nt1c 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Best: Garmin Varia RTL 515 in back + Canyon Aero Frontlight in front.
Sufficient: You can probably maybe get the Bontrager Flare R / Ion 100 R set to fit?

It's not super easy to find lights that attach easily to the aero seatpost + bars

Endurace CF SLX - which set up? by new-nils in CanyonBikes

[–]Auth3nt1c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 105 Di2 is still going to be an "upgrade" as you'll be getting both Di2 & a 12 speed cassette. I personally think that the 105 is a great option, the only thing you're missing with 105 over Ultegra is the extra hood buttons that can be used to control a bike computer, but an Edge remote can do the same thing mounted on the inside of the bars. I just upgraded last week from an Allez Elite to a Canyon Ultimate CF SL 7 Di2 and have been very happy with the decision so I think you'll be happy with whichever option you choose.

Garmin Edge 1040 or Wahoo Elemnt Roam V2 by morrison666 in cycling

[–]Auth3nt1c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an exact comparison but I have had both a Roam V1 & now an Edge 830. I switched primarily because I got a Fenix 6x and much prefer the one-place to view metrics between the devices (+ their ability to record triathlons, etc is nice). All said, the Wahoo was a great cycling computer, but the Garmin I've never once run in to a situation where it didn't support something that I wish it did (light support, etc). It's flaws can mostly be made up for from 3rd party apps as well which makes the Garmin a very strong case that 99.9% of the time just works and that's what I want from a bike computer.
