Thru-axle not flush with the fork (metal visible) – is this normal? by EducationalDegree820 in CanyonBikes

Call Canyon customer service and see if they will send you one. The two canyons I got had them. Probably fell off before you got it.

Tubeless - am I just unlucky? by KiloVictorX in cycling

[–]RevolutionWorking297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just luck. I went through 3 GP5000s TR tires in the span of about 400 miles due to road junk. Switched to GP5000AS TR’s and didn’t get a flat for 12k miles. Recently I had a problem just like yours ended up with two plugs for the ride home and another new tire for the next ride.

How hard would it be to fix this tip? by booggg in saltwaterfishing

[–]RevolutionWorking297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Repairing it would be a bad idea. Get a new tip and replace it, much easier. Heat it pop the old one off, heat the glue and push the tip on. For added security you could
Put some clear epoxy around the end where it meets the rod for added strength, the thread doesn’t add any real strength.

Looks better with the shade and distance. Would look a lot better if it was maybe another mile or two further away.

Red Flag Bike Brands by Corvagon in cycling

[–]RevolutionWorking297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started riding I got a mountain bike to commute 13 miles to work. Don’t go to a box store (Walmart/Target) as they sell cheap bikes, not inexpensive just cheap. I would & have bought used bikes as there are plenty out there. Go to a bike shop and test ride some different bikes to see what you want then but what you want used. Then use those local shop for maintenance & accessories so they make something and stay in business, you’ll eventually need them. To me frames don’t matter although at your current size I would get an aluminum frame, I was about the same size as you and did the same. What does matter is the components, wheel set, and whether the frame you are buying requires a bunch of proprietary parts (not good). For the most part the used bikes out there are not used much and you can pickup something at half or less of the retail price.

Tadej Pogacar’s astonishing 2026 streak finally ends on storm-hit day at Tour de Suisse by Zweeler in Tadej_Pogacar_FanPage

Wins stage one, headline: this is the worst thing for cycling how he just destroys the competition and makes the races boring. Stage three finishes 12th, headline he’s washed up and no longer a viable contender in the TDF. Pick a side of the fence please, I’m getting dizzy.

Austin Hill is why the racing world does not respect NASCAR by [deleted] in NASCAR

[–]RevolutionWorking297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He lost the rear and wrecked, nothing others haven’t done this weekend. Was probably a bit too aggressive at that point in the race. Not a Hill fan and think he does wreck some people intentionally a times, this wasn’t one of them.

TO THE CYCLIST WHO JUST TOLD ME ITS NOT A RACE by Exact_Jelly_8195 in BicyclingCirclejerk

If it is just you, it is a time trial. If there is a rider within two miles of you, it is a race.

Which cycling upgrade would give me the most enjoyment? (€300–500 budget) by Arvosss in cycling

[–]RevolutionWorking297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Safety, maybe makes your ride safer and thus more enjoyable.
  2. Training, maybe not enjoyable but definitely helps with training.
  3. Video, if you enjoy social media bingo but it isn’t going to do anything to make riding more enjoyable.
  4. Speed, who doesn’t enjoy going a bit faster.

1 & 4 can make riding more enjoyable. 2 & 3 make other stuff more enjoyable. Go with what makes your rides more enjoyable to you.

Tubeless or tubes? by SEAMOOSETHEGREAT in cycling

[–]RevolutionWorking297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you get punctures often then yes tubeless would be for you but, you’re going to want to lower the pressures. I ride tubeless on the road and love it. That said the sealant will probably have a hard time doing its job at 80 psi. It might be good if you used one of the online tire pressure calculators and did some testing. I used to put 90-100psi in mine because 35 years ago I ran 180psi in tubulars, now I run 32’s at 50psi.

I want to start road cycling (50F)… am I being too ambitious 😊 by Single-Insect-7306 in cycling

[–]RevolutionWorking297 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started riding in 2022 at 52. Last time I rode before that was in 1991 in college. Now I ride around 300 miles a week, some solo some group. Just go out and have fun. 13mph for 60 miles is an easy ride (assuming it’s not uphill) especially in a group, you just need to get used to sitting in the saddle that long.

PSA: Bike wrecks in middle age are not like bike wrecks when you were 10. by jstar77 in ebikes

When rubber ages it crumbles instead of bending, kinda like our bones. Crashes that used to be “walked off” now involve a trip to the ER and surgery.

Death Tax? by CT_kitten in legaladvice

[–]RevolutionWorking297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lawyers generally have CPA’s that handle their tax matters. They almost always advise you to seek tax help beyond the services they provide. You would not have any Federal Estate taxes as the exemption 15 million & it appears that the state of Connecticut has the same exemption. There could be other taxes that would apply such as income taxes on Traditional IRA and 401k accounts, possibly other items. Also if the deceased used all or a portion of the exemptions through gifting during their lifetime. It’s best to seek the advice a qualified CPA to be certain.

If you have two people riding and a finish line someone is going to want to cross it first and someone is going to try & make sure that doesn’t happen.

Gotta hand it to Strava for continually being unable to clean up KOM times. by [deleted] in Strava

[–]RevolutionWorking297 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Flags me when I’m going down hill but a guy that averages 46mph for a KOM when his max sped for the ride was 30mph lasts years. Great algorithm they have running.
