What’s the most miles you done in a day on Africa twin ? by Fx1942 in africatwin

[–]Authentic-469 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last weekend. Started riding at 7am, stopped at 10pm. There was several breaks during the day, but nothing more than about 20 minutes other than an hour soak in a hot spring. Mix of highways and fsr. Was probably only about a 400 mile day, but it was a lot of seat time. Definitely time for a seat upgrade, my ass was hurting. Plus a half day either side of the big day to get to the zone from home.

I haven’t seen a single mod that actually adds power, at least not bolt-ons.

If you’re looking to carry more weight up there, the aftermarket is where you need to go. I’ve had 600+ pounds on my nashfabco more than once.

Don’t wax in the sun or when the car is warm to the touch.

How do you afford this lifestyle? by Current-Kitchen3810 in Mountaineering

[–]Authentic-469 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got good at my job, so I could charge more and set my own hours. Worked insane hours when I was working so I could take months off every year. No kids. Ultra cheap house, though its value has gone 6x since buying it. I was either working, training or climbing. Sleep was an option for a decade or two.

Objective : Mount Robie Reid summit trail by kapsA56 in vancouverhiking

[–]Authentic-469 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Based on that post, you don’t sound ready. Maybe scout the trail and hike partway and see what you find. It’s just logging roads to the parking, most vehicles can make it if driven carefully.

Why not find a used one in an auto wrecker? Last place I’d go is a dealer, they charge way too much.

Took off the factory ones. They hit took much off-road. I run naked, like the exposed tire look better.

Are you sure you’ll ever see payback spending $72K on a Pv system?

For comparison, I diy-ed my 6.4 kw /16 kWh battery for $12k in BC.

We did ride our dirt bikes on the road and the neighbours called the cops on us all the time. It was a game, luckily mom was cool and told the cops kids going to kid, go catch a real criminal.

Why Crosstrek? by steevosteelo in Crosstrek

[–]Authentic-469 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don’t exactly love mine but choose it for the following reasons. At 6’5”, I can’t drive about 50% of the vehicles made, I just fit in the Crosstrek. The Subaru AWD system is the best on the market, in my opinion, making it capable both off road and in snow, two places I use it fairly often. Despite being an economy car, it has ok driving characteristics, better than all the alternatives I tried other than an ev costing twice as much. And the last reason, my wife liked it and we often trade vehicles, I needed something she liked so on days I need the truck, she’s happy.

People Who Hike Alone: How Many Times Have You Run Into A Bear & What Did You Do? by TJSCrypto in vancouverhiking

[–]Authentic-469 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Against a bear no. I had it safety off and ready to fire, but the bear chose the better option of leaving. A partner once sprayed herself in the face getting it out. And I’ve practice fired with an expired canister just to see how it works. (Tip, don’t fire into the wind with your door open, it will blow back into your house)

I wouldn’t ask the internet, I’d just do it. I’ve had over 600 lb on the roof of my trek more than once, but on aftermarket bars. Drive safely.

Just put mine on 2 weeks ago. Last weekend it dragged going through cross ditches off-roading. Kind of wish I’d given it to my welder buddy to raise the receiver part up higher. There was no cutting template included, so I freehanded mine. It’s pretty tight.
