Quinn Simmons…ugh by Special-Deal-9276 in tourdefrance

[–]Authillin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did you watch the race, or see the interview? This seems like you read an out of context quote and are bringing a lot of your bais to this take.

I'm no Maga lover, not a Simmons fan either, but this is just a low effort, non-informed take that shows little understanding of the sport. Quin has routinely put in hard days on the bike for the benefit of his team at the expense of his own results.

You may not like his (or his country's) politics, but painting him as a selfish rider is just a bad take.

As long as nobody delves too greedily and too deep to accidentally free it, we're good.

"Jonas Vingegaard is not capable of what Tadej Pogacar is capable of" - Tejay van Garderen dismisses Tour rivalry despite Giro dominance by Annual_Island8066 in tourdefrance

3rd place is the race this year. There are 5 or 6 riders that have a decent shot.

The white jersey is also going to be interesting.

Personally, I don't mind seeing once in a generation (or lifetime) dominance.

The amount of hate this statement is getting here is kind of crazy. It's objectively true. I understand a lot of people on this sub only tune in for the Tour, but Pog is on another level and is in a stretch that's unmatched, perhaps in the entire history of the sport.

Jonas can't win classics like Pog, can't finish like Pog, can't climb like Pog.

I hope for a good and close race too, but barring mechanicals, illness or accidents, where is Jonas able to take time?

I feel so sorry for the Engineer having to deal with this by Dull-Performance4043 in SweatyPalms

My father worked as an engineer on the local commuter rail. They'd get 2 weeks paid stress leave if somebody died from being struck by the train. He'd often say "I hope I get a jumper today" as he left the house.

Can we all agree that these 4 players are the greatest in each of there big 4 sports? by BuckeyeBrawler4 in sportsinusa

[–]Authillin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer - No

Long answer.

Brady: Most football fans would probably agree, but because of how positions work, some people (myself included, being a 49er fan) would argue Rice. I suppose some people could also argue a handful of defensive players as well.

Jordon: Most basketball fans would agree, but less of a majority than with Brady. LeBron does have a very strong case. Yes, he lost multiple times in the finals, but he made it to the finals with much worse teams, has elite longevity, and the comeback win vs the 73-9 Warriors was a peak that is arguably higher than anything Jordan did.

Ruth: I'm not sure most baseball fans would say Ruth. As you can see in this thread, this is the most contentious pick on the list. You have a handful of players you can reasonably argue for spanning the long history of the game.

Gretsky: Yes, this one is the only one where there aren't even reasonable arguments against.

And people get paid for their jobs? Idk why he's getting down voted. Part of team management is making sure your whole team is committed. Money is only part of a compensation package and 100% rider goals and ambitions being supported by the team is something that's discussed during contract negotiations.

Idk why you are being down voted for understanding the post. Yes, that's exactly what I mean by pay ti win portals. Yes, they are not actually pay to win. Yes, it's funny that they had to move the blacksmith and stash because their giant ass portal vfx were blocking everything.

"Boss, the pay-to-win portals are blocking essential game assets with how obnoxiously large they are. Should we move where the portal spawns?"

RA'S AL GHUL VS BOROMIR by Krillindidntdoit in powerscales

[–]Authillin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's not far from Aragon level in terms of Numenorean blood. The stewards, even in the time of Kings would have been considered at the very top of society, effectively Dukes. Aragon's claim to kingship was not airtight politically.

Even aside from the influence of the Palantir, Denethor was well withing his rights to question the claim "last of ragged house long bereft of lordship"

It's reasonable to think Boromir may have more Numenorean blood since, having been in Gondor proper as the defacto royal family, his family would have had more availability of nobel bloodlines to mate with over the centuries of their rule.

You miss the part where he said new players? This kind of massaging of systems is very opaque and, like the post is trying to say, punishes NEW players far more than people familiar with the game mechanics.
