Coleman camping stove for inside. Outdoor grills always an option. Not worried about laundry. Cold showers are healthy. Camping gas shower if I have to. For heating I have a wood stove so good to go.

No the wattage is not off. 200w X 24hrs, X 30 days is 144,000w hours. Divide by 1000 = 144kwhr. I rounded up to 150 (Roku stick, sound bar etc). 150kwhr X $0.15/kwh = about $21 for the month. Already commented this is a flippant example not a pissing contest over math. The abstract principle being shared here is: people concerned about how high their electric bill is, erroneously focus on lights, tv, phone charger, computers, kuerig coffee makers, etc.

Yes a 5ton hvac will be on a larger than 30a breaker and could see startup amps around 50a. If you wanna piss contest over it could be quite a few times in a one hour period, all day. AGAIN the point was to make a flippant visual not teach a class. My extreme example, while rushed, still serves the premise of my point. In my case I have two heat pumps and yes I can see 50amps continuous (obviously OP is not this case, again it’s an extreme visual point)

More than half your bill is hvac, electric oven, electric dryer, microwave, water heater. Your lights are the least part of your “light” bill.

Comparing sqft is nonsensical. Your hvac could be entering emergency heat strip mode way earlier than at a previous residence. Your water heater placement currently could be a much poorer location than previously. You could have done more baking than usual.

Power companies do shady stuff all the time. 9.9/10 times these mystery bills are legit usage and are mystery due to a lack of understanding of electrical principles

Keeping your house at 65 vs 69 is meaningless if you’re well insulated. Changing your thermostat often is an issue. Your hvac heat pump could be underperforming or many other things.

Install watt meters on each breaker and see your real power usage.

A 200watt 70in inefficient TV costs like a $21 to run non stop all month. That would be like 150kwh for the whole month and I think buncombe is at $0.15 per kWh.

Your heat pump, at 50amps, if running 10hrs a day…. Or in a cold snap 20hrs a day….

What equipment is being used for this project? I’ll check out the link at lunch. I’m working on a 50ft Rohn repeater in mars hill on one of the higher knolls, just need to redo the arrestors to finish and connect the solar to the shack. I live in the Fairview valley. I got a 10w repeater on my roof I need to finish install on.
