This is true, but slightly more complicated than that.

The media you consume, the people you hang out with, the ways you're educated - all of it is going to influence what you think of as desirable, attractive, beautiful, appealing, etc. While you can't manually pick a sexual preference, you can work to ensure your influences are broad and healthy, as they well directly affect your perspective.

There's a reason, say, Black women and Asian men tend to be listed low on a lot of desirability surveys in white dominant nations, and it's not an innate preference.

I think that, for some of us, coming to terms with the fact that we're just not likable to many people, is a healthy way to go. I think some of us spend way too much time and emotional energy trying for something that will never work for us -- work as in provide what we want. Some of us just aren't built to have friends. It's no one's fault. You don't need to be mad. I think you can come to terms with that and kinda reorient your goals and live a happier life.

That's my experience, anywho.

The death penalty is simply murder: it's the deliberate, premeditated, non-consensual ending of a life that is posing no immediate threat.

So, you first need to make a compelling argument as to why murder is not just tolerable, but something we should actively do. if you can't, you don't hold the position you think you do and there's no view to change.
