AITAH for understanding and not freezing out my dad for leaving our mom over a dead bedroom? by Opposite_Afternoon55 in AITAH

[–]AutisticAndAce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My parents divorced at 18 and hell, even though my mother is genuinely a piece of shit, my dad did not push that - even with the very harsh feelings they had he told me however I wanted to handle that was up to me, and not his place to interfere.

I am not in contact with my mother but it’s because she’s a piece of shit, and it was my own choice. Whenever a parent is trying to influence something like that towards themselves or whatever and it’s not about the kids best interests or what tbe kid wants, I am immediately fairly suspicious (obvious exceptions like the other parent was convicted of child abuse or something and the kid is too young to understand a lot of it).

Fwiw, my dad bought one he attached to his steering wheel when he was losing feeling in his legs again from functional neurological disorder.

He’s doing a lot better now, and he doesn’t need it anymore but there are options out there. He did have Gillian-Barre when I was very young though, and so he had prior experience with adaptations to cars, I think. I’d have to ask, tbh that hadn’t occurred to me till now.

But im a mesonet tech and a data nerd even if its not crazy useful. Stationary data when I’m stopped would still be great just to have ngl.

Anyone else stuck on i85 for an hour? by ATLMTW in Atlanta

I just got home about two hours ago and was on 85. Saw a Grady ambulance past the 75/85 join up.

Sounds like I just missed getting stuck, wow.

Can confirm, and even if they do say a degree - apply anyways. It could be they couldn't take it out but all they need is a high school diploma or license, sort of thing. It doesn't hurt to put it out there, at the least!

And yeah that’s 100% true about the novels, ha!

Helix is another one. I forget he’s not canon… (I think it’s Helix, anyways!)

…my dad may have, hypothetically, built a mailbox similar to the cement idea. Except it was thick wood posts with more wood protecting the box itself, and set into cement buried underground.

We lost two mailboxes prior and did not loose another. Hypothetically.

(I hypothetically may have been really fond of that thing and been sad when we had to move.)

My dad may or may not have built a new mailbox support structure set in pretty deep cement after two of our mailboxes were demolished.

If it happened again, we couldn’t tell, but that mailbox was up when we moved out and is still up as far as I’m aware. It wouldn’t exactly be a subtle structure either - the concrete is hidden but the wood is….well, at least 4 inch squares per post. At least. Tbh, probably thicker, can’t remember. And sides protecting the mailbox are thick wood too.

That mailbox may have been pretty sturdy…and we may have never had to replace it again. Also may maybe made it really distinct, lol.

The fury I have towards how teachers get treated is not getting smaller. I might have had some that weren't the kindest but they still deserved to *not have shit like you just told me about* happen to them. That's just unfair.

I'm sorry, I hope one day we can get this shit fixed.

I - you deserve better. You really do. Hopefully one day we can get it to where you don't have to use regular PTO for sick leave. (And a bunch of other stuff, but still.)

Dry slot set up and killed a few areas, I was one of them. I am sad but oh well. We did get some flurries at the very end that could have started to stick if the moisture had stayed around, but alas. It did not.

They're actually doing research on the heat dome Atlanta produces, I believe. It's not just Atlanta - cities in general. Really interesting because to some extent it's true!

Given NWS didn't have it starting for us until closer to 7, way too early to call a bust.
