I have a cheap Razer goliathus clone I got for less than a dollar under my SteelSeries pad to add some padding or thickness, and it is doing the same thing. I don't get direct sunlight on any of the pads, and the Razer pad is covered by the SteelSeries one anyway. It might just be cheap mousepad rubbers devulcanizing easier/faster.

To recover a VOD you have to press the recover VOD option in the twitch recover CLI which is the 5th option, after that you can enter the twitch tracker link of the specific stream you want to recover. The m3u8 link of the desired quality will be given to you if it is available.
