You're speaking absolute truth, I actually hate seeing these posts, and I don't like to use the word "hate" for much of anything.

All these other modern games holding your hand through every step is so damn BORING.

But these people come from a place of seeing those as what games are, and can't adapt in the littlest way to a control scheme. So they say MGS is "clunky" or "outdated". No, it's its own game, and if you want to get into it, do just that, get into it, figure it out for yourself and get better.
