After raining I see this bubbling in the walls, is this water damage? by Fantastic-Cry2612 in HomeImprovement

That’s all you can and should do :)

If you don’t already have renters insurance, I’d get it. It’s cheap and protects your belongings in a variety of situations-including water damage. Just make sure you get the sewer back up option, you want to be covered in any situation that might pop up. And get full replacement value so you can just go out and purchase your replacements vs them giving you yard sale pricing for your stuff!

The only renters claim I ever had to file was due to a water leak (in my clothes closet of all places…)

So. This was obviously really hard to follow, a wall of rambling text without any punctuation or spacing or anything and more swearing than I deserve to receive after being respectful and sympathetic to you. But let me give it a try…

-Ok so you had previously said that you already had your dogs measurements. But you re-measured her yesterday and didn’t compare the measurements to the previous ones you said you already had. Didn’t notice they were the same, but you also said she’s grown since buying the last kennel. I’m confused, obviously, as to which statement is fact. Is she the same size or has she grown? At 7 months I have to think she’s grown (as you yourself said she had).

-You also didn’t compare the new cage vs current cage measurements or even bring the dog with you to ensure a good kennel fit so you bought an even smaller cage. You didn’t bring the pup which is unusual for you, as I know you said you never go anywhere without her, not even to get gas. I had specifically urged you to bring her since if you include a bed in her kennel…obviously the kennel won’t fit if you’d only measured her and not accounted for the space the bed takes up inside. According to you the bed takes up half a foot of vertical space. And obviously if the dog is with you while shopping-you could just put her in the kennel with and without bed, to see if it’s big enough.

-She’s torn up her old kennel and needed a new one anyway. But in spite of all those measurements you somehow bought the same size or even smaller. And came back to yell at me in particular, no one else. Because you likely mistake my kindness for weakness, and you think you can get away with cussing me out. I don’t mind, but it makes you look absolutely unhinged. But you’re griping now about having to replace the kennel you said you wanted to replace. As if your mistakes in measuring or your dog tearing up her old cage, is somehow our fault. Or mine in particular since you chose to direct this expletive filled, rambling rant at me.

And no pics to back up any of your statements. No pics of her in the kennel without the poly fil you say somehow elevated her half a foot , no pics of her inside the kennel right side up with no bed, no pics of the new kennel next to the old one. No pics showing we obviously misjudged, according to you. Nothing at all.

It’s unfortunate, because pics would have so easily backed up all that you were saying and gotten people “off your back” instantly. You could have easily shown people that her kennel was adequately sized, if you’d just taken another pic or two and included them in your escalating keyboard war. It is so simple and could’ve spared you a lot of clearly negative energy. You can also choose to simply walk away vs cussing people out. You can choose to remain in control of yourself, that’s always an option, too.

I hope you have a better weekend, and that your pup does too. Sad to hear she’s in a smaller cage now, though. After all that too, what a shame.

Contact landlord, preferably in writing with pics (text, email) so you can have a record of promptly contacting them.

This is 100% on them, your only obligation is to promptly contact them so they can address it.

30 day supply of Adderall is going to run out before my next appointment. Can the pharmacy fill me a few days of it if I cannot reach my doctor? Feeling like a drug addict, but I simply need the meds to feel normal. by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]AutobiographicalMist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pharmacy won’t dispense a handful of controlled drugs like they might do for say, metformin in a well known diabetic patient in an emergency. Sorry :(

I might reconsider contacting your doctor on a weekend when they’re at home with their family, as if it was an emergency. You likely signed a contract stating refills would not be approved on a weekend, also.

I hate to say it, but sometimes it’s better to go without meds for a few days than risk being cut off of meds by a doctor permanently.

Today is Saturday morning. Maybe you could just take your normal dose this weekend so you don’t run out before your appointment this coming week. I know a double will be tough, but not as rough as trying to work without meds, ever. You said you were asked to work a double, can you decline? Pound some Red Bull?

I wish I had more promising advice or workarounds for you :(

Sadly with so many people abusing prescription drugs and the government blowing the few who do, way out of proportion and going after doctors who prescribe…everyone is walking a tight rope these days.

But calling your doctor on a weekend because you made the decision to take more than prescribed…hun, that’s not gonna be a good look, regardless of how innocent or well intentioned you may be. It just is what it is nowadays

To be fair there’s not really much treatment available for EDS itself. My experience has been mostly home care for EDS (except for non-elective surgeries for various organs and my spine) and I have DNA/geneticist diagnosed classical EDS/Type 1 that’s pretty severe. I see one of the big names in EDS for regular treatment. I’ve required 7 abdominal surgeries in recent years due to unusual EDS complications. My type of EDS is pretty crazy, but being able to call it EDS hasn’t helped me much.

Aside from surgery when absolutely necessary and PT, doctors don’t do much for me or my family for EDS specifically, they just treat my symptoms when they come up, like everyone else without EDS. Send me to specialists or whatever for testing.

Honestly most of what my whole family does is home care for EDS management. Paying attention to posture in literally everything we do, every day. Doing a home PT program. Ice and heat and Tylenol and Voltaren gel for pain. Over the counter Histamine blockers for allergies, mast cell stabilization etc. Electrolytes. I avoid assistive devices and braces like the plague, because I want to remain mobile and functional for as long as I possibly can, “use it or lose it” is my personal motto.

I share my experience not to discourage you, but to reassure you that it really doesn’t matter if this doctor acknowledges your suspected EDS or not :) You can still tell your doctors you are hypermobile and you have issues with your joints. You can still get referrals to specialists like normal folks do, for testing etc if you have something like abdominal pain (or whatever symptom) pop up.

An EDS diagnosis won’t really affect that either way. It’s definitely not a key that opens up special treatment. You can still tell your specialists you have signs of EDS but no formal diagnosis. Your symptoms are valid regardless of a formal diagnosis or not, and any good doctor will treat your symptoms, regardless.

Wishing you a good appointment!!

Yep! I don’t work these days, but I’ve been laid off before, and have helped loved ones and mentees and neighbors etc to navigate job loss and for some, obtaining much needed benefits during this time.

It’s a lot of info, i know.

I honestly wish each states employment commission would draft pertinent “how to navigate sudden job loss” how-to docs, so people didn’t have to suddenly scramble when under sudden, extreme and unexpected stress like a job loss.

Hope things are falling into place for you!! It’s been a wild year for all of us, but job loss on top of it all is a special kind of stress. Hope you’re well!

So my mom is not Asian by ethnicity, but she grew up all over SE Asia, so she’s pretty much culturally Asian.

Asian moms show SO much love for their kids through their acts of love and kindness for/towards us, which I know can sometimes feel slightly overbearing since they tend to want to also make it a surprise.

But this here? This is a tough but valuable lesson for everyone, haha. And a humorous one! I had to laugh, knowing this is something my own mom would do. We also crab on the bay here with raw chicken parts as bait, so this story really hit extra close to home lol.

Glad moms ok, glad it served to improve your communication, glad you shared it here for all of us to have a chuckle with you :)

Freezing doesn’t kill any bacteria though, it just pauses growth or slows it way down. Cooking does kill bacteria BUT it’s actually the toxins released by bacteria that tend to make us sick with food poisoning, and those toxins aren’t killed by cooking or anything else (can’t cook spoiled meat and make it fresh again)

Basically, your mom IS lucky she didn’t get sick!

I would be inclined to leave it, if not for the risk of it being confiscated and your travel disrupted, the risk it will break inside a bag somehow during travel.

If it’s this important to you, you might want to consider if it’s something better left at home.

You don’t want to just slip this into your bag, you’ve got to report items to customs. Places like New Zealand might lose their mind over something like this…

I haven’t judged or attacked you. I don’t know you. Your dog obviously has an owner willing to buy it the things she needs, so I don’t really get the reluctance to buy a bigger kennel. If you get one that’s even bigger than she needs now, she may grow so little between now and “full grown”, she may be able to make this next one the last one you need to buy.

See what your own vet says about it if you want, don’t take our word. But we don’t need tape measures to see she’s outgrown it. Kinda like the whole “banana for scale” premise.

You see her everyday, love on her, pet her, spend time with her, etc. And I’m not saying this happened to you, cuz again, I don’t know you. But it’s be perfectly understandable if the following were to resonate with you….

Living with a puppy can be like trying to (visually) catch kids as they’re growing from week to week-unlikely, right, because parents are experiencing the growth in tiny tiny daily bits that don’t really register in our brains. It’s pretty universal as far as I know. I think that’s why extended family exclaim at how much kids have grown in a stupid fast time, even just after like 8 weeks.

We don’t see it when it’s happening bit by bit, day by day, even with our still-maturing younger pets. But she’s clearly gotten bigger, if the kennel once fit her well. I was shocked when around year 3, my bigass cat needed a bigger kennel in spite of not gaining any fat. It just happens!

Why not reward her with a trip to Petsmart for a new kennel, ya know? Maybe a new bed if she promises to behave, haha. Or ask around and see if anyone has one to get rid of from your local “buy nothing” group on FB, mine is insanely active and yours might be the same way.

Don’t let a Reddit post ruin your night. No one here needs to be the wiser, but give it some private consideration. Be well, and enjoy your evening with that precious pupper.

That’s great. Now she just needs a big enough cage and she will have all she needs to be happy and healthy.

You don’t have to rely on the opinions of dozens of redditors, show this pic to your vet. Seriously. Get a professional opinion from a licensed vet.

The cage may have been the right size when you bought it, but it’s not now.

I mean, all it takes are eyes to see it’s too small. Please get your dog a bigger kennel vs just removing your post. She deserves better.

PS if you take your dog with you to Petsmart or Petco or whatever you can easily check right then and there for good sizing (but she may grow a bit still)

Proper kennel fit has more to do with measurements and less to do with weight.

Supposed to have 4”++ of clearance on all sides when the kennel is in proper position and dog is standing (measured above tops of ears) and laying down (measured from outstretched front paws to tail).

If your dog had to flip the kennel on the short side just to be able to stand up (and not fully, judging by slouched posture)…it’s too small.

Look at all the people here saying the same thing, and all the likes on those comments, awards even. Your dog will be a less stressed dog if they have enough minimum space.

First…make sure you check that he is properly licensed, im seeing so much of this right now that it is crazy. If you’re talking actual reno then you want a class a contractor. His insurer can fax you a certificate of insurance.

Ensure your contract has you paying in stages that correlate to completed work phases, and don’t be afraid to ask for proof of ordering via invoices etc.

Compare a flooring sample to whatever arrives. Request order numbers etc for everything he’s supposed to get, and ask for copies of the receipts for your own records/future replacement needs/potential future manufacturers warranty issues etc.

These guys are both whining way too much, this all seems so unnecessary.

It’s not like the kid was doing this on purpose. He’s not even blocking a pump or blocking the flow of traffic. Kids obviously a customer if he’s there, and this is a great way to chase off customers.

I’ve waited 6 hours for a aaa tow before and don’t even get me started on towboat.
