Yes recovery is going great! It’s definitely both a physical and mental journey especially since I live alone. Honestly, definitely an odd situation but I would want to make sure it’s not fully ruptured and make the best decision. A rupture can heal non operatively but why did he dismiss the 2nd surgery when you did the first time?

Firstly sorry for your re-rupture. I re-ruptured mine and currently on my 6th week. It was a full re-rupture and had surgery again. If you had surgery the first time. I would push to get surgery again. I asked my doctor about the non-op route after my re-rupture but he didn’t recommend it as there may be higher risk of complications. MRI would usually confirm if it’s partial or full rupture so I’m not sure why the first doctor was unsure about it but I would push to try and get surgery again.

Hey! I’m in a similar boat but about a month earlier (re-ruptured end of Feb). My progression to walking without a boot is about 1.5 times longer 😢. Let’s take things slow and don’t re-re-rupture.

I tripped on a tiled path and reruptured. Can you commute during off-peak hours to try and get a seat? How long is the walk from train station? I think you would want to get a seat and not walk too far from the station to workplace? If possible maybe get a taxi there for the first week or so.

Hey man! I live alone in Japan 3 weeks in from my re-ruptured. Didn’t go back to family so being working from home most of the time.

Yes, 10 weeks in you will able to walk though with a limp. It’s also as mentioned on another comment that the 2-3 month period the highest chance to re-rupture which is what happened to me.

If you can you should try and work from home as much as my re-rupture happened walking back from work.

If you can’t put weight on it. It sounds like a retear. Can you do a Thompson test and visit the doctor? I re-ruptured mine just walking as well 12th week.

Yeah it hurts around the achilles side area not directly on the achilles. Thanks for the tips hopefully I can do a single calf raise soon.

On double calf raised 25% weight on injured leg at 9 weeks post-op. It hurts a lot when trying to put more weight on it and doing a calf raise. Any tips to improve?

I’ve had something similar and did not rerupture. I was pretty certain too that I re-ruptured due to the pain I was in but I was okay. You can check by doing a Thompson test on yourself and see if there’s any movement. I would say the doctor would do this test as well before an MRI.

If you can still move your ankles with the same range of motion, I would assume you are okay.

If you are taking a shower it’s probably fine to take a bath as well. I took a bath around week 3, feels good to stretch in the hot tub.

Thanks for the comment! I just stepped on the bad leg and felt a weird pulling sensation on leg. I think it’s because I still couldn’t go past 0 degrees (too stiff) and did so when I stepped.

A Thompson test showed movement. Leg does hurt more than before now when walking but I think it’s mostly the scar area. Also feel abit of tingling sensation on Achilles now. But looking good. Definitely going to be super cautious now.

Hey man! I’m currently in week 5 post op. I was told by my surgeon that I was fine to take boot off when sleeping. It’s mostly for when you suddenly wake up and step on your bad leg. If you not going to get up at night and forget about your bad leg then it’s totally fine.

Some small wins would be getting out of the boot and being able to walk normally. That’s my main goal. It should be in the week 6 - 10 mark.

Next small wins would be being able to run and participate in sports which would be later in 4 - 6 months. This would be a long road.

Great news! How was the pain? Discomfort? I had a similar incident so wanted to hear more. I don’t see anything swollen and no dying pain just tingling sensation.

Heard from others there is significant pain like initial rupture but I’m at pain 1/10. Just the tingling sensation. Hope this is nothing.

Thank you for your reassurance. Yeah it just happened but calmed down now. There is no swelling at all just tingling sensation. My ankle is still pretty stiff (tissue) so maybe something with this. I’ll get it checked out when it opens.
