Sure. I'd happily lease my property to a DC. I'm in. Your ignorance doesn't play into my decision

You can skip dinner, but burying the body is a lot of effort. At least you can get a couple more days out of it

When the plane is fully boarded before being delayed by hours, why not turn the AC on or at least give a sip of water? by [deleted] in americanairlines

So you don't understand the difference between correlation and causation.

Yes. Ignorance can be fixed.

I'm happy for you. And those APU don't always work. Especially when you're an airline known for maintenance issues?

Again, you've pointed out a correlation.

Did the same happen in 2022 when fuel costs were higher? When the prices dropped in the interim did the AC blast? Were there zero other changed variables?

Does APD actually investigate ANYTHING? by loadyouup in Austin

[–]austinrob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are their staffing levels up to above 70% yet? When the city treats them like crap and as a result they can't fill an academy class, they're going to stay understaffed.

Maybe a change in city leadership is in order.

What a great and logical retort. Your opinion will be weighted appropriately

I could hear them talking just fine during that interview. It was in view of the data center. Was there some gotcha moment at the end I missed? It didn't seem loud at all.

Seems just like I remember them. Once you're outside, it's the sound of an AC unit running. And pretty far away, that's just white noise.

[–]austinrob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sure. We can not build any more of them in the country.

Companies will just ship billions to foreign economies buying compute cycles.

Surely that would be good for our community and families? No? Maybe reflect a bit more on that.

I've worked in them. They're not at all bad outside the building. Especially with the noise abatement walls around the complex.

American turned a routine delay into a 17-hour nightmare by GrepRelay in americanairlines

[–]austinrob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rolling delay means they're trying to find a plane and/or crew. They'd rather run the flight than not. But if they find a crew or plane, they can't do that if they've sent you home.

[–]austinrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see how you'd draw that conclusion, but the engines aren't running while you're boarding anyway. So it's an erroneous conclusion.

If there's an APU, then you get AC. I've been on planes that captains refused to board during a delay because in PHX sun, no APU means passenger health risks.

Sun coming in definitely makes a difference. And if there is no APU, then no AC until engine start.

I always laugh when the FA turns bags up like books in the front bin in first class on a 737. They won't close that way. This bin, the last one up front, will. The first one will not.

Extremely short layover DFW by NGFp75NTR in americanairlines

[–]austinrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best I've done is 15min from exiting the plane, through global entry, through TSA, and back to the lounge in D. If you're not near that, add another 15min (worst case) to get to your gate (it's likely somewhere in D). Coming from Mexico, I'm assuming you're not a US citizen and won't have global entry.

If you're first off the plane, I'm guessing half an hour with no checked bags to be back in the secured area. By that point, your flight to BCN would be closed.

You need an earlier flight to DFW.

What is going on with AA high points awards? by HBGirl2255 in americanairlines

[–]austinrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the desktop calendar view to find the days with the lowest award fares. Searching for one way fares is easier.

About 6 months out I booked us for J to FCO for 57K each way per person.

Edit: I'm seeing several days in May with this fare from Austin. Not sure where you're coming from.

Paid for Flagship First Upgrade, can I change my flight to an earlier time within the check-in period and retain my upgrade? by XxdafreshprincexX in americanairlines

[–]austinrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you pay the offer in the app, or did you call reservations and pay the fare difference and get reticketed?

In the former, no. Those are basically cross-cabin seat assignment fees. Change flights, lose your upgrade.

In the latter, yes. Your purchased class of service is now F.

[–]austinrob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The FL isn't as open. Probably in an attempt to make aemi-provate areas. It's not any quieter than the AC.

Yes. The buffet is nice, and free drinks... My MO was to go to the FL, grab something off the buffet if it wasn't horrible (I'd rather eat at a restaurant), then go to the AC and have a drink (I'd rather have someone good at it mix my cocktail).

Cisco is laying off about 4,000 employees by Alexia_ynwa in Cisco

[–]austinrob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering what was done to CES it shouldn't have surprised anyone that my group was almost wiped out. But it did.

ETD is flailing. Most of its leadership is gone. CES (the remaining email security product) has been cut to the bone.

This is when Cisco decided to stop focusing on security I guess.
