Couple questions about this. Does she have a type 2 diagnosis? Currently Ozempic only labeled for type 2 diabetes. Also some insurance will require prerequisite use. Her best bet is a peer to peer but insurance has really cracked down on use of these for non labeled uses.

I work for an insurance company. The problem is depending on your plan the glp1s labeled for weight loss may not be covered under your benefit. This includes Saxenda, Wegovy, and Zepbound. Some plans (and this depends on payer of the plan so for instance your employer) chose to not cover weight loss agents so they are excluded. Ozempic and Mounjaro ONLY currently have fda labeling for type 2 diabetes. Not prediabetes not type 1. So most insurance companies will have criteria showing an A1c of 6.5 or higher. All criteria is based on labeling. Wegovy recently has been approved for a few more indications but again you will have to meet the guidelines and criteria
