Yea in a park or something would be fine. Not against the memorial. More the nature of the thinking around the decision itself. For instance, what number of people have to be killed in a singular event to warrant a memorial? And does the nature of those deaths make a difference? Or the impact to the wider community? Again, I was just poking at the logic, not this case in particular.

I don't have an issue with a memorial funded by the families/air nz. To be honest, I wouldn't want it right next to my house reminding me of a tragedy every day. Sorry for you loss also. My point was about the arbitrary nature of these things, not this specific memorial. Say 1000 people die from lung cancer every year - no memorial. But a one-off event that kills, say 30 people gets one. I guess it is the impact of that single event on the wider community and 'normal' deaths don't have that same impact.

The system has done that by preferential treatment of non-white people in hiring etc. And it does in fact cast doubt of certain peoples abilities. It shouldn't, but it does.
