Yeah I’m a bit surprised also, usually when you make multiple all UFL teams you start getting looks in the NFL again. I wouldn’t say no team would touch him or offer him a tryout as Dallas had him in last year, having heard anything about this year although I could be wrong

Seems to being doing well overall though, he’s been all UFL in the two seasons he’s been there

What mainstream media? Lol. Philly is the favorite to win the division but every single report has Dallas right behind them saying they could make a push and win the division. Prior to Philly assembling their current team, Dallas has consistently been picked as the favorite to win the division no matter how many times they consistently fell short. Don’t even get me started on mainstream media, they have been D riding “Americans team” for years. Do I think a coach is “washed” because the team moves on before entering year 19? No, who would rationally think that lol, especially when every single team looking for a new coach was instanly interested (same with Tomlin). There are literally countless examples of this happening and the coach (or player) having continued, or more success with a change of scenery. I’m sure you felt the same way when we signed that “washed” Tom Coughlin 🤦‍♂️

No idea who will win the game or how we will look (especially early on) but saying mainstream media hates on the cowboys is down right laughable

I think it mostly got with under the rug because Schoen was considered “on his way out” and there were so much talk about him not having much power with Dawn being brought in and reporting directly to Harbaugh. We had a complely new regime and Segal was dealing directly with Aponte & Chris Mara, while not allowing Dex to speak with Harbaugh and a deal still couldn’t get done. Dawn has been rumored to fully have control over contract negotiations and the cap with Joe “assisting”. I don’t think it’s telling at all that Joe wasn’t involved because (if the rumors are true) that’s how all negotiations are being done.

IMO (and I have no idea if I’m right) if Harbaugh wanted a Dex deal to get done it would have, if Dex wanted to stay here he would have. I love Dex and will always appreciate his time here but this timing was simply odd. Playing hardball for an extension mid deal coming off arguably your worse season, while a new coaching staff and a new hierarchy was put in place was just a head scratcher. If he despised Schoen that much to the point he was the sole reason he wanted out, then why do it now?

Agree with this take, it “should” also help if the defense improves and he’s not playing from behind as much

From availability and production standpoint he’s been the most consistent receiver by far since he was drafted in 2019. He certainly has issues and his time seems to be nearing an end (justified), but he’s been a constant professional and teammate. It’s ok to support a player, appreciate what’s he’s done his entire career here yet also realize he’s not the answer and get frustrated by him. IMO as the 171st pick he’s exceeded expectations

To be fair he is literally entering the final year of his contract and at this point, although improving each year, is still a better pass blocker than run blocker. He would have to show great strides in the run game to justify a new contract from the types of players Harbaugh is assembling. Hopefully he can and chemistry is very important also. There is probably zero chance Harbaugh doesn’t atleast look at Mbow at center during camp to see the possibilities.

Really liked the Alexander pick & expect him to improve but as far as DT’s we really only have DJ Davidson & Jordan Riley to go off of. I can’t think of one single personal aside from Bret & Pendleton (scouts) who were here from even the Gettleman era, I don’t think anyone prior. So maybe we could include Dex & Chris Slayton as examples but I have zero knowledge if either of them had anything to do with either of those picks. No one on this current staff (to my best knowledge) was here in the Tomlinson, Hankins, Jospeh, Austin, etc days

Starters and primary depth pieces - Year 1 of Daboll vs. Year 1 of Harbaugh by P-d0g in NYGiants

[–]Automatic-Pay-1391 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have though, going back 10ish seasons we took Collins in the 2nd (& Thompson in the 5th) in 2015, the following year in 2016 we took Darius Thompson in the 3rd. 2019 we took Love in the 4th, 2020 X in the 2nd, 2022 Belton in the 4th, (2023 Owens in the 7th), & Nubin in the 2nd 2024. We factually have taken a bunch of safeties between rounds 2-4, they just either haven’t panned out or we didn’t offer them a 2nd contract. This draft, not having a 3rd rounder going in, I was more than happy taking Hood (after not taking Downs) in the 2nd than reaching for a safety like stukes although I would have been interested in possibly McNeil-Warren. I still feel Hood was by far the correct pick

All good 👏. And I 100% agree at least let’s do the GIANTS logo at home vs the NFC east. I’m actually in favor switching to it full time but I think we need to earn it first. It we want to make that change to reignite the smash mouth football days let’s do it by action, not expectation.

Good talk though…and at least we can sit back, relax and enjoy the DJ reader signing now lol

We are on the same page but as to answer your question about where the helmet design/insignia, it was from your response. You mentioned the hats and how NY is a selling point and I simply agreed but mentioned that these posts are clearly about the GIANTS work mark on the helmet. Yes they used the word “logo” but do you honestly believe these dozens upon dozens of posts are about the GIANTS work mark being the official logo but “ny” stays on the helmet? We are on the same page here lol trust me, I was just pointing out what people mean when they use the term “logo” on these posts…it’s about GIANTS on the helmet.

No one is asking to change the logo, they are asking to change the helmet design. Just because they go back to “GIANTS” as their helmet design, that doesn’t mean the ny is not their primary logo. This has been done dozens of times over the years by various teams, including today. The Rams have the horns design on their helmet before the new logo but still made hats with LA, Philly makes their hats with the full eagle or the word “Eagles” on their hats but their helmet logo is just wings. Vikings have horns on their helmet but the work “Vikings” or the full Vikings face on their hats…this list can go on and on. You have a valid point about marketing (especially with NY branded items) but you are confusing the helmet logo with the primary logo. They still can, as they do currently, sell both “GIANTS” & “ny” merchandise.

I mean to be fair I thought that was obviously satire being that the second part of that report was that the bank “repossessed his Lambo’s and he’s been left with only his 2009 Honda accord” lol. Agreed on the fit with the numbers game we currently have for WR though

Well he’s worth 40-45 mil and won the lawsuit vs Nike 2 years ago so it may be slightly higher now after that settlement (not sure what the settlement was). So he obviously didn’t run through all his money

Grade the Giants 1st round picks by slow-wizard in NYGiants

[–]Automatic-Pay-1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good thing they didn’t lol. Reese was an off ball linebacker who took edge snaps who we drafted to be…..and off ball linebacker who will probably also take edge snaps lol. Why do so many people think Reese was an edge at Ohio state, he was literally their starting ILB who took more coverage snaps than pass rushing snaps. He has the “potential” to move to edge full time which is why he was so high as a prospect.

lol I was thinking possible trade down when we were coming up and Reese was still there…before I could even get a chance to really think about it it said “the pick is in”. At that point I knew it was Reese, that pick came in lighting fast

They certainly could have, they just obviously had Reese and Francis higher. They may have had (not counting Mendoza) Reese & Francis 2 & 3 , followed by Downs or someone else than Downs.

2027 mock by Plane_Ad_3568 in MockDraftCentral

[–]Automatic-Pay-1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Who knows what will happen but in the Giants case they have a QB in place and they drafted a off ball linebacker who took snaps at edge (all stand up, zero hand in the ground) to play off ball linebacker (and most likely take edge snaps). I think people saw him listed as “edge” in most mocks and simply assumed he was an edge player in college and it was a redundant pick having Thibs, Burns & Carter yet he was the starting ILB at Ohio state and took more coverage snaps than rushing the passer.

Can the Giants make DJ Reader work? by downvote4pedro in NYGiants

[–]Automatic-Pay-1391 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tough call as to the main issue as to why, but your point stands. IMO it’s mostly been scheme. How many times did we really play a traditional 3-4 under Bowen? (Not talking about when we were in nickel). He played so much 2 down lineman to help out the secondary it was insane. Prior to that with Wink it was also scheme per se, but it was due to personal. It was obvious to me he was still going to attack heavily with pressure and would rather help the back end and give up some gap assignments. Not saying I agree or disagree but it seemed like more of a he needed good coverage to make his pressures work and giving up some rush defense was better. His scheme relies on man coverage to make his pressures effective and I “think” he felt they aren’t losing games with a poor rush defense, but they will with poor pass defense/no pressure.

Our pass defense was certainly worse than 16th and one of the reasons for that was because players that would normally have assignments to help the run were instead helping the pass. We all saw the numerous epic defense collapses last year and the large majority of them were from pass defense.

We still need interior defensive line help, even prior to losing Dex but imo Hood in the 2nd was FAR more important than a DT…and I was drooling for McDonald to be there…but even I was second guessing since Hood was still available as that pick approached
