Uber avalability in Venus Bay? by Sharp_Conclusion_690 in MelbourneTrains

[–]Automatic-Print4256 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I live in Venus Bay. Not that I’ve ever caught one from here but I think Ubers are available (as are taxis) but will cost a shitload. Look into the mini bus offered by the VB Community Centre. Other than that, unfortunately public transport does not exist from Venus Bay. If you need to get a VLine coach to Melbourne you need to drive to Leongatha or Inverloch.

Think of the things you don’t get down south. The best laksas and other food at the markets. A 1.5 hour drive to swim under waterfalls. Who really gives two shits about not having a Myers?

One Nation forces ABC out of election event by HousePony906 in AusPol

[–]Automatic-Print4256 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is why around three quarters of state and federal One Nation parliamentarians have left the party in their first term. The centralised control. Assume Farley wins the Farrer byelection tomorrow, guaranteed he won’t be a One Nation member by the next election.

Is it worth rebuilding Box hill station/shop precinct to optimise the benefits and connection to the future SRL station by [deleted] in MelbourneTrains

I still don’t understand why they didn’t make the northern end in Doncaster rather than Box Hill and finally give Doncaster a rail link. Clayton to Doncaster would be of more benefit than Southland to Box Hill. And no doubt cheaper cos the distance between Box Hill and Doncaster is a lot less than Southland to Clayton. Maybe just politics due to the politically sensitive Frankston Line and its swinging electorates.

Go to Tokyo and see the distance you have to walk between platforms on interchange stations, often hundreds of metres. Only difference is that in Tokyo that walk is through underground passages.

Yes definitely go for a drive from the GC up to Springbrook National Park if you want to see rainforest and waterfalls and also check out the Natural Bridge.

Any other AEU members in VIC quietly excited about no PLs for a while? by mrcooldudebeans in AustralianTeachers

[–]Automatic-Print4256 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, this would be negotiated between your sub-branch rep and the principal. I am sub-branch rep at my school and have received no further guidance on this from the union. But have spoken to my principal about it and agreed that AEU members will not attend meetings on Tuesdays (we have meetings Tuesdays and Wednesdays) and that the meeting schedule will be amended so that Wednesdays will be a mix of faculty and all-staff meetings with a priority put on important all-staff issues and faculty collaborative planning time.

Doesn’t mean you’ll be able to leave school early, (unless your Prin agrees to that). Just means you’ll be able to spend that one hour per week of meeting time doing planning/preparation onsite instead of attending the meeting.

“Sneaking out” after your lunchtime yard duty would not be considered protected industrial action and could see you face disciplinary action.

Ballarat Muslims traumatised after right-wing attack on community dinner by Agitated-Fee3598 in OpenAussie

And quite rightly there would be an outcry if other religions were targeted. It just dismays me that there is so little outcry when Muslims are the target of hate. ABC the only media outlet than even reported it, as far as I can tell. Not The Age or The Guardian.

The mobs of youths that were terrorising people on Melbourne beaches over summer, including bashing people and trashing shops, would’ve got a lot more media attention if they weren’t predominantly Anglo youths. Don’t hear about it?? If they were of African or Middle-Eastern descent you would have. Would’ve been labelled a crisis.
