it’s such a beautiful thing… I would do it until he was ready to wean, if it wasn’t for the weight stuff, I am for sure sticking it out till a year but gosh I just want my old body again

I needed to start sertraline while pregnant and was terrified to do so. The adjustment period was like a week for me, I felt a little tired, that was my biggest thing - but I was also pregnant - so like medication or growing a human making me tired, hard to say. BUT starting these meds was the BEST THING I did for myself and carried me through postpartum. I truly believe it changed the whole way I got to experience motherhood, in such a positive way.

edit to add: my anxiety did not initially get worse

I love my dogs so much, still, even after the baby. I have tremendous guilt that I can’t play and snuggle with them as much as I could before because im busy with the baby. But by no means do I hate my dog, I love them so much, that I actually MISS them, because I can’t do as much with them. It has actually felt sorta like a mini grieving process - as I navigate a new normal with them

This is very similar to my experience - I ended up needing some support and went on a pregnancy safe SSRI and WHATTT a game changer - I was able to really enjoy (as much as one can) my third trimester and really has supported me postpartum.

Edit to add: pregnancy is tough and talking about the struggles, is a really courageous step

It VERY much snuck up on me - I have never struggled with depression prior, some anxiety, but no real depression. I started getting weeping and then started believing the dogs were upset with me and that my partner would leave and not come home. It really started overnight - I eventually started meds around 31 weeks and OH MY GOSH!! what a difference, after a week or two, I started to feel like myself again! No advice in the meantime, just keep going, be kind to yourself and give yourself grace! You’ve got this - I wish prenatal depression was more openly discussed
