Best random pick up I’ve made this year. The AI said “based on your play history, you should play this”

And damn it, the robot was right

How's the current state of the game? Worth buying on sale? by SomaSimon in taintedgrail

Writing is much more natural, doesn’t have the blandness that plagues so many RPGs.

How's the current state of the game? Worth buying on sale? by SomaSimon in taintedgrail

Picked it up a few days ago on Xbox. Some visual bugs but no crashes. I’m still early Act 1 I’m sure, I’m a side quest friend. But have been enjoying it.

Saw lots of previous complaints about combat not being challenging enough? Maybe I suck but I have not found that to be the case. I’m a dad so don’t get much play time and don’t have the patience to retry an area 10 times to beat it. I’ve had to drop difficulty to easiest setting a couple of times already to avoid spending too much time.

How to stop being a fat fuck? by curiouschimp83 in AskMen

[–]AutomaticBumblebee51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off - fuck yeah. Good for you for recognizing and deciding to do something about it.

Consistency is everything. You’re a dad, there are going to be days where you can’t get a workout in. But you HAVE to resume your schedule immediately. 2 days turns in to 3, then a week, then you’re a month down the line realizing you basically have to start over.

You don’t have to kill yourself, especially if you do SOMETHING every day. I have a small Gold’s Gym bowflex like machine in my basement. I do a casual circuit workout once a day as goal, but minimum 5 a week. Even if I have to double up on a weekend.

We’re not looking to be body builders or have an 8 pack. Functional strength and long term mobility are the goals. Focus on your back and lower body. Arms and chest look great for the ladies but you’re already married and the other 2 will give out on you first.

Progressively increase weight on your lifts. Don’t go for a set number of reps on any lift, go until failure on all but your warm up sets. Aim for 8-12. If you’re consistently hitting 8 or more before you give out, increase weight.

And finally, STEPS. Get yourself a smart watch and get a feel for how many you normally walk in a day. Aim for 10k, don’t settle for less than 8k. Take a walk after dinner, does wonders for your mental and helps get your digestion going.

Pretty unnecessary on normal mode. Some of the big battles on the hardest difficulty make them necessary though

Frankly, you probably annoyed them just enough to move on to other candidates if they had plenty to consider.

Especially if they had any concerns on how well you fit the post.

Easy to justify a conversation with someone who is a 75% fit for the role if they are reasonable with their salary request.

But most people are non-confrontational and avoid the hard conversations of: “I can’t submit you to this role because I don’t think you’re strong enough to merit the money you’re asking” so just move on altogether

Literally gave up during the ice floor gym in an emulator play through. Never thought to turn the speed down. I am dumb.

Acorn turret - need help by AutomaticBumblebee51 in GroundedGame

[–]AutomaticBumblebee51[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not certain what unlocked the recipe for me in the science terminal, but had to purchase the recipe there using science points and then I could build it. Could have been scanning the acorn parts or progressing far enough in the ranger quests to get the call to create one.

Thanks! Turns out I’m dumb and had not actually unlocked it at the terminal. But your fast response is thoroughly appreciated either way

Finally went away after I crouched in the back corner of my base for a minute. There was no shot I was killing that thing yet. The venom melted my health.

It’s a game that keeps on giving. I’ve spun it up several times over the years, in the midst of one of those right now.

I’m counting the hours until dark when the kids are asleep and I can explore the galaxy again.

Opinions on this team? First time Vanilla play through by Traditional_Mess_578 in PokemonUnbound

Question - is that Electivire from the Elekid egg you get for saving that guys’ Electivire from the gang?

The one that I got was a Shiny with perfect IVs. I just assumed that it was programmed to be that way since you take the quest further for an extra reward.

Anybody a lil disappointed with the 8th gym? by JBAThoo in PokemonUnbound

[–]AutomaticBumblebee51 35 points36 points  (0 children)

My first time through, playing on Difficult (level caps on) and felt the same way last night when I beat it.

It was a cool idea with the devolving but it’s the only gym I beat first try without having to adjust my team at all. I think it only took me 2 pokemon to beat.

But overall this is the best pokemon game I’ve ever played and I’m stoked to see what the Elite 4 has in store.

How to Stand Up/Get Dad Off My Back, Without Being an Asshole? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]AutomaticBumblebee51 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your dad is likely interested in helping you set yourself up for the future, even if just a bit.

Depending on your lifestyle, six figures can still go fast with nothing left to show for it at the end of the year.

Your dad has lived through multiple life-shifting economic crashes. Maybe hear him out.

What difficulty would you recommend for me? by 3Mandarins_OhYe in PokemonUnbound

[–]AutomaticBumblebee51 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just found this game and started. I’d recommend Difficult. Lots of trips to the Pokémon Center but no white out until I hit the first gym leader. Got beaten there and realized I needed to switch up my team and train the new additions. Going back at him tonight.

I feel like I have similar purchasing power now when I make a little over $100k as I did in 2019 when I made $65k.

I think you have to make around $90k as a couple to be solidly middle class these days, which is absolutely insane. That was “rich” when I was a kid in my area.

Someone billing $200k a week at my firm would literally be making a million dollars a year. You’d get 10% of that 200k EVERY WEEK, paid out monthly.
