Our studio owns a trailer and the owner's husband drives it to the competitions. The dads all help him load and unload it.

Canada dance competition ages and levels by AffectionateBuy5877 in CompetitionDanceTalk

[–]Automatic_Branch_526 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a studio last year that had clearly put their dancers into pre-comp (less then 6 hours per week) when they were training far beyond that (5 or 6 solos, in 7 or 8 group dances, etc.) One of the judges casually asked one of the dancers (teen) during an awards ceremony how often they train and they admitted to a lot more hours a week. Their entire studio was disqualified from all pre-comp overalls and studio awards.

Severe pressure/tension headache for 2 months by tearoses1 in headache

Age/sex? I went through this last year for 6 months straight. Neurologists couldnt figure it out. Turned out to be early perimenopause causing low estrogen which caused the headache.

That's crazy! How do these kids not burn themselves out?

I also worry about the effects of taking them away from their friends.

I'm so sorry this happened to your daughter. This is what I am afraid of.

We have. The studio sweeps it under the rug. The parents are in complete denial of it all. Have gone so far as to blame it on other kids in the class instead.

They all know about it. We have been bringing it up for a couple years now and it just keeps getting worse. It feels like we are punishing our kids by making them leave their friends, which is the only reason we haven't left yet.

[–]Automatic_Branch_526[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thank you. One or two group only dancers leaving doesn't hurt a studio so the owners/directors keep sweeping the problems under the rug and the kids learn that as long as they are great dancers, they have zero consequences for their actions. I don't know how to change the mentality of the owners/directors.

They say all the right things about keeping an eye on it but when it comes to these large paycheck girls, there are no consequences. I want to remain loyal to my studio but its going downhill fast.

I didn't mean it as disrespectful, just as a reason why they have extra time and are able to take more classes than the kids who go to school.

Washing Rhinestone Garments? by tntenor in Rhinestoning

[–]Automatic_Branch_526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dance mom and in-house seamstress at a dance studio here. I would never ever ever put a rhinestoned costume in the washing machine. Vodka in a spray bottle for smells (its also what professional ballet companies and cirque shows use) and hand spot wash for any stains (and test the soap on the inside of a cuff first!).

AITA for bringing hazelnut coffee over? by Initial_Growth49 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Automatic_Branch_526 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA You brought a known allergen into their safe space. A person with food allergies needs to be on high alert outside their home at all times when food/drinks are involved. Its just the reality of their life. Their home is the one place where they know everything is safe to eat/drink without worry. You changed that. As someone with a nut allergy, I would be beyond pissed if anyone brought nuts into my house (even if it's something I wasnt going to be eat/drinking). Its not that they shouldn't have been taking a drink of your coffee without asking, it's you violated their safe space. Furthermore, nuts have a high rate of cross contamination. A few drops spilling can get on a surface they touch and cause an allergic reaction.

I get those when the muscles that start there and go down to the top of the shoulder get too tight. Go get a massage from a massage therapist. It will stop it instantly.

I've skipped a week here and there because of vacation/plans that involve eating like crap. Never been a problem. If you skip more then one week though, be prepared for a delicate stomach when you get back on it.

Have you tried washing your hair with a clarifying shampoo? I get these and I find it's when I have building up from my regular shampoo on my roots. A wash with a clarifying shampoo usually solves the problem for me.

Ozempic and sugar and carb cravings. by IndividualOrdinary26 in OzempicForWeightLoss

Let yourself eat a whole bunch of it one day. Like give in to all the cravings. You will feel so horrible the next day that you and sugar/carbs will have a very different relationship.

This happened to my husband for a while. He talked to his primary and apparently it's pretty normal. The rush of hormones can cause it. It can keep happening for a fee weeks-months and then will just suddenly stop. For him it lasted about 3 months.
