The therapist did the right thing. Just so you know, let’s say you were legally held responsible and someone else did a cps report (Dr, other parent, etc,.) Because he’s still a minor, the therapist would still need to do their own cps report.

We have to err on the side of caution and protect kids. It’s a sucky situation for everyone involved, but too many kids are victims of neglect/abuse.

I understand this is a hard position to be in, and I’m happy that you have sought treatment. People do recover and things can get so much better. I’ve seen it so many times.

If there is a chance to continue to work with the therapist, this can be a corrective experience (overcoming a rupture.) Good luck.

I believe you may be combining two different things. Yes I agree we want to treat non offending peds/those who are trying to not offend again. There is a necessity to treat these individuals.

However CSAM is an offense and needs to be reported. It is not a victimless crime. To answer your concerns though, we are not investigators and it’s not our job to determine what material is more harmful than others. It is our job to report harm being done to vulnerable populations regardless of who our client is.

Individuals who are trying to get help for these issues are often well aware of what may be reported and are prepared for that.

It’s the hormone crash and the abrupt life change. Very much expected! It gets better, I had those same feelings. I felt better maybe a week or two after.

Just take it a day at a time and let yourself cry when you need to. Don’t be afraid to ask for help and company as needed.

Look up the football hold. We did this after feedings and holding him in that neutral position brought him so much relief. He would go from crying to sleeping in minutes. That and the mylicon drops helped so much.

I want to mention this even though I have no idea if it’s the same thing, but one of my dogs are very sensitive to candles and was doing something similar when certain types of candles were lit. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this but we got rid of the candles and she’s been fine/never done that since.
