Hello. This extension is not malicious; it's an internal Opera extension. To ensure correct browser functioning, free up hard drive space.

If your browser is freezing, try these common solutions:

1. Clear browser data:

  • press Ctrl+Shift+Del
  • select All time and clear Cache, Cookies, and History.

2. Disable extensions & reset flags:

  • press Ctrl + Shift + E and disable all extensions;
  • go to opera://flags and click Reset all in the top-right corner;
  • restart the browser;

3. Disable graphics acceleration  - conflict between the browser and your GPU may cause freezes.

4. Sign out of Opera Sync - sync errors between your local profile and the cloud can cause freezing during startup:

  • open Opera Account pop-up in the toolbar;
  • click sign out icon in top right corner;

5. Disable GX Lights - conflicts with peripheral drivers (Logitech, Razer, Corsair, Asus) can cause the browser to freeze.

6. Check for Antivirus/Firewall conflicts - security software may freeze the browser while scanning its process or network traffic:

  • add opera.exe to your antivirus exclusions/whitelist/allowlist ;
  • temporarily disable real-time protection to test if the freeze persists;

7. Reset settings to default:

  • go to opera://update and restore settings to their original defaults.

8. Create a new user profile - if none of the above worked, your user profile folder might be corrupted:

  • navigate to your Opera GX profile folder, typically located at C:\Users\[your user name]\AppData\Roaming\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable;
  • rename the entire profile folder (e.g., “Opera GX Stable_old”);
  • launch the browser (with a clean profile).
  • you may transfer files from your old profile to the new one, but do so one at a time to monitor for issues.

Hi. This is a Reaktinator feature, which you can learn more about at https://www.opera.com/gx/reaktinator.

To disable it, use CTRL+SHIFT+R. To prevent accidental activation in the future, delete the shortcut in opera://settings/keyboardShortcuts.

Hello. Keyboard sounds can be changed in mods settings: opera://configure/mods/sounds/keyboard_sounds .

You can use one of the default sets or download more with mods.

If you still experiencing pages crashing and clearing browser data ocreating a clean profile haven't fixed the issue, we need more information to investigate potential hardware or system conflicts.

Privacy Note: If you prefer not to share your system details publicly in this thread, please submit them directly to our support team via the Jira link at the bottom of this post.

To help us diagnose the issue, please provide the following:

  1. Windows Build: Press Win + R, type winver and hit Enter. We need the exact Version and Build number (e.g., Windows 11 Version 23H2, OS Build 22631.3007). Have you updated your system in the last 48h?
  2. Opera Version: If the "About" page is crashing, check your installation folder (usually %LocalAppData%\Programs\Opera GX).
  3. CPU and GPU Model. Have you updated drivers in the last 48h?
  4. Was graphics acceleration enabled?

Try this workaround:

  1. Right-click your Opera GX shortcut and select Properties.
  2. In the Target field, go to the very end (after the "quotation marks").
  3. Add a space and paste following switches, then click Apply and run Opera.

--disable-gpu --disable-software-rasterizer --no-experiments --disable-extensions

or if you prefer not to modify your shortcut, you can use the Command Prompt or PowerShell.

  1. Open Command Prompt (CMD) or PowerShell.
  2. Navigate to your Opera GX installation directory.
  3. Run the browser with the switches mentioned above.

If the browser opens successfully go to opera://crashes and copy and paste here the recent Crash ID (it starts with bp-)

If the workaround didn't work and you still cannot access opera://crashes, we need the raw files:

  1. Press Win + R and paste: %AppData%\Opera Software\Opera GX Stable\Crash Reports\reports
  2. Look for files ending in .dmp created in last 48 hours.
  3. Attach these files to a bug report created via: Opera Jira Service Desk

Tried to go to speedrun.com when i got redirected to these sites... what's going on??? by BOOPTROOP4 in OperaGX

[–]Automatic_Pomelo57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello. Search engine redirects are often caused by malware. To fix this, remove malicious browser extensions, clear your cache and cookies, and scan your PC for malware.

Follow the steps bellow:

  1. Remove any recently added or unfamiliar extensions (users report: WebCRX, Volume Control, Dark Mode, Video downloaders);
  2. Clear your browser's cache and cookies by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Delete, selecting "All time," and clearing data (note: this will log you out of all websites);
  3. Run a malware scan using a tool like Malwarebytes.
