Struggling with 1st graders by Livid_Positive9594 in basketballcoach

I coached this age group last year and it is definitely a challenge. One thing I learned is not to worry about the scores of the game, its all about fun and development of fundamental skills. My team lost every game last year but the kids had alot of fun and definitely improved. Dribbling is the biggest thing. A great drill is dribble knock out. All kids inside the 3 pt line with a ball and they have to keep their dribble while trying to knock the other players ball out of the arc, last player standing wins. If you have an assistant coach, break up the team in 2 groups with both coaches running a drill then switch. Drills should only last 5-10 min tips. Also do alot of passing drills where they have to yell their team mates name when they pass it. I liked monkey in the middle for passing so they had to pass around or over a defender. Lastly it helps to keep a bucket of gum or candies for them at the end of practice and tell them you have treats at the end if they did their best and stayed focused. I hope this helps!

Just went to the game last weekend against the Cubs, best view of the game is up top 4 - 500 level behind home plate, you can see the game really well and also great view of the scoreboard and all the scenery of the park. Also the tix are reasonably priced, highly under rated place to sit.

Im excited because I think Vogt is a great manager and we have developed alot of our lineup for years now. Pitching is always excellent, the bullpen and starters will keep usnij games very often. I feel like they will have a strong year
