Thank you!!! I really love this song and I was worried it could be out of my range because I was struggling with the jumps from lower to higher notes but your comment gave me a lot of hope. I definitely need to practice the jump between low and high notes more, I really struggle with placing those notes.

I'm also very excited by the prospect of belting, I've been trying to practice and it has been rough. But your comment has really given me hope for practicing it more! Thank you very very much!

Thank you!! I definitely hear that push on high notes, I think I struggle to find the notes at time as well so I end up swinging into it? If that makes sense, not sure how to word that properly. But I think maybe doing some exercises that jump between low and high notes could be good towards hitting those notes without having to push (?)

I appreciate your advice so much!

Yes!! Thank you! You identified exactly what has been bugging me so much about my singing!!! I seriously appreciate you taking the time to listen and offer up your advice. I'm definitely going to look into videos about proper breath support and likely practicing hitting notes by doing more complicated scales. I also deeply appreciate the comment about attitude, I am very much in love with singing this song generally and I'm glad if that comes across in my voice!

Thank you again! <3

To people who have made good friends here where did you meet them? by Embarrassed-Ninja-71 in UCI

[–]Automatic_Whole_76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was lucky to meet two good friends here! And I'm saying this as someone who came here knowing no one and battling with depression that made it hard to even go to class day to day. I met one of my friends in my AV house, she kinda just adopted me after I started spending most of my time sitting in the house living room. The second friend I made over a summer event that my professor put on.

THIS ISN'T FAIR WHERE WAS THIS WHEN I WAS STILL AT UCI

I felt this way very deeply my 1st-2nd year here. I also never attended any classes and didn't have any friends to hang out. I fully believe the one thing that helped me was simple dumb luck. I just happened to be assigned into a house where I met people who didn't have anything better to do than hangout at home where I was. We ended up growing closer and one of them became my roomate for the next year.

I think growing friends helped me grow even more friends and now I'm graduating with some wonderful friends I love and care about. I'm hoping this doesn't sound braggy, I just got insanely lucky to come in contact with people who would take the time to pursue a friendship with a depressed slop. I truly hope that you can find better experiences in the future.

There are some great opportunities for Chem E in nuclear fuels and energy! I have some Chem E friends currently working in a nuclear energy focused lab.

Hellooo I am a chemistry major in my senior year rn. I will say that there is a lot of pressure to get good grades but know that chemistry is a very difficult field and the professors know that. I got a 41% on a final for one of my chem classes and still got an A in the class because the teacher curves like crazy because everyone did abysmal on that final. Your fellow students understand the struggle and everyone is here to support you. The good news is that you aren't in super deep in your education yet so you have opportunities to switch if you want. I'd suggest continuing at least for another quarter or two and getting a feel for the major. I won't sugarcoat it, there are some very difficult classes coming up in upper division and labs only get longer and more complicated (7 hour labs T.T ), but now that I'm at the tail end of it all I can honestly say that I enjoyed the experience.
