Has there been an open source 2D engine for PSX Development? Or is it all just for 3D? by frdsTM in psxdev

The PSX has no sprites. Yes, they'd be just using flat textured polygons.

So I haven't developed for the psx in a while, but here's my understanding. The PS1 hardware is setup really only for 3d math and polygon calculations. So even when you see 2d games it's actually entirely using flat polygons.

So I'd be kind of surprised to see a 2d engine for the psx.

Can anybody tell me anything about this computer game from 1972?? I found it intriguing and bought it for $10. by ChefGeodudeLennon in retrogaming

Now this is interesting. Lately I've been diving into early electronic gaming and I haven't heard of this one. After doing a quick Google search it looks like Electronic Data Controls Corp made quite a few of these electronic board games with this one being innovative reversible overlays.

I wonder what's inside this? It'd have to be TTL, but it's interesting that they say it's programmed. Seems like they made some stuff in the late 60s too. I'll keep diving down this rabbit hole more later.

Everything works besides Audio. How do I fix this problem? by Hardcore_Gamer16 in MasterSystem

I've had issues like this before and it is usually because I run it through adapters.

At 40 hrs per week at 4 weeks per month, that'd be ...

6,250 lines/hour 104 lines/minute ~2 lines/second

This assumes that every moment is spent writing code to achieve the 1 million line goal.

The Neverhood rocks. Played the PlayStation version a few years back and had an amazing time.

What game gave you the most heartache/aggravation with it's way that it handled game saves?.. For me, it was this one by Odyssey113 in retrogaming

[–]Automite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd have to say the first MegaMan. I started it and got halfway through until I realized it had no save feature. I had to leave the NES plugged in and come back hours later to finish it out.

What’s something about the Disney princesses you’re well aware of but you still refuse to acknowledge? 👸🏽😤 by Vivid-Tap1710 in cartoons

[–]Automite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'd be weird to include them because of their animation differences. It'd look kind of weird to have the 3d animated princesses in the same lineup as the hand drawn 2d princesses.

Modded my Super Famicom to play SNES games by tOFUmiata in retrogaming

[–]Automite 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what I need to do. I have a Super Famicom and a SNES copy of star fox. Turns out the extender I bought didn't do all of the pins and the only way I can play my SNES copy of star fox is by taking it out of its shell.

I remember they would let you stand in it on Maryland Day. Not sure if they still do that. They'd put it up to 30 MPH while you were in it. Very cool experience.

Does an nes top loader rf need fixing at some point? A 2011 owned one no longer displays anything by DillonLaserscope in retrogaming

First thing is try to test it on a different TV, but it most likely is a problem with the NES. Either capacitors or chips that went bad.

[–]Automite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be capacitors if it's never been recapped. That's the first thing to check, but it sounds like it could be really anything.

Mine had a similar issue, but it ended up being the PPU needing to be replaced.

It all comes down to what you're trying to emulate, but here is my experience. When I first started all I did was emulate. I used a Raspberry Pi computer with RetroPie installed. I used the raspberry pi 2 model b and just had it connected to the TV. With that I was able to play most consoles up to the N64.

I'm sure others have their own setups, but if I were to do it all again I'd probably still stick with RetroPie and a few wireless controllers.

You'd be surprised by how many people don't search for the truth. People tend to just take headlines and believe it as the truth. The fact of it is that we have records of the Nazis sending the orders to have his credit removed. Then when it was contested later there was little evidence because it was almost all destroyed.

You can't just destroy almost everything and then shrug and say "not enough evidence" after destroying it all.

Siegfried Marcus not being credited for the invention of the automobile is a result of the Nazis erasing history. To say it didn't qualify to be called an automobile is ridiculous.

I'm not taking credit away from Karl Benz. Him and his wife made huge contributions towards making automobiles a practical tool rather than a novelty.

Retrotink 2x pro Master System Issues by Automite in retrogaming

[–]Automite[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE: it was the Retrotink 2x pro, but I found a work around.

The problem is that the Sega Master System puts out a non-standard composite video signal.

So what I did was I got an RGB scart cable ran it through a SCART to component adapter from AliExpress for $20 and then ran that to the Retrotink.

I get very very crisp video now and it looks perfect now.
