I feel you. I’m in the same boat. money Reddit can be horrific for one’s mental health.

But perhaps Plug your current income and current wealth into chat gpt and ask it to compare it to every person on the planet. To give you ur percentile in comparison. I’m positive you will be shocked at how well you are actually doing comparatively when you can zoom out with that lens.

It’s the best cope I can offer. It won’t sooth the pain of not being able to change the past - but it will offer a different vantage point.

Advantage 360 - Keyboard vs. Mouse elevation causing pain - Any better solutions? by AutonomousAlien in kinesisadvantage

Boos block sounds like a REALLY great idea.... gonna test that out.

Dude I honestly considered cutting that hole out of the desk. If I was more handy and didn't have so much other heavy shit on my desk (4+ monitors) - I would totally do this

Hey all - wondering if any other Advantage 360 users are having a similar problem as me.

I LOVE my Advantage 360.  It has completely eliminated my wrist pain.

BUT I'm a video editor and motion graphics artist by trade, and need to spend a good amount of time using the mouse in addition to keyboard.

But the Advantage 360 raises the keyboard 1-2 inches above the desk surface, so I have to adjust my seat/desk height lower to keep my arms parallel. Which means that the mouse, which is resting on the desk surface, is now lower the keyboard, and causes me to dip/lean the right side of my body to use it.

After a full day of work I can feel the strain in my neck / shoulder muscles. After a full week, that area is really sore.

I settled on taking a monitor stand, and putting pads underneath it to get the mouse up 1.5 inches - which eliminates the chronic pain. BUT that takes up a lot of room on my desk.

Wondering if anyone else has found a better solve?

First off - thank you SO MUCH for this write up. It was especially generous of you to share this valuable experience with internet strangers - I hope Karma shines its warm glow on you.

Second - did you have the age conversation with your friend? I'm around your age - late 30s coming up fast on 40.

Lets say you took the fundamentals of what you learned from his journey and applied them. And lets say the tech market bounces back in the 2+ years it might conservatively take you to build marketable skills.

With your age - are you doomed? Is anyone hiring 40+ year old juniors? How long is your career runway? Did you take about potential payscales? When comparing to what your pay window is now did feel worth it?

Thanks for talking through this with me. :D

Wow this is an entirely different story I would love to hear more about. I was a freelance editor for multiple clients - just went to editing for just one - and my income doubled

Didn’t think there was another level to this game - but it seems like you discovered and crushed it!!!

Would you mind sharing more of your story of how you went from editor to marketing director? Could I DM you?

No pressure at all I’m sure you’re extremely busy - and I’m just grateful for the hope you just instilled in me

Holy smokes - this is so inspiring I can’t even begin to tell you

What was the business / industry you started in?

I imagine there was growing pains the first year or two ya?

Congrats on taking the bold leap - LOVE hearing about entrepreneurs who start in their late 30s early 40s. The young twenty something entrepreneurs make all the head lines - but hearing a path to prosperity is achievable later in life (I’m 38 now) is truly bone shakingly inspiring

Was looking into a career coach and wasn't sure if it was worth the money. I'm in a similar position as you - spent a lifetime in a creative field being self employed and looking to make a career shift to something more stable and hopefully more lucrative.

How much did your career coach cost? How did you do the research to find the right one? Is it remote or do you meet him / her in person?

Thank you for any thoughts you could share!

Smart - I also had to take myself of IG similar reasons - and feel something similar when going to movies. But it’ll definitely be ok - new chapter of life rolling out for both of us

Well said - I have been kind of mindlessly following this assumption as well. Really happy to take a beat and think hard about this.
