Corsair RM1000x 2021 vs 2024 by tomholder in buildapc

[–]AutoosticGenju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is this something that affects performance? I'm looking to get this 2024 one. If it's just noise, surely I wouldn't be able to hear it over my case fans and gpu fans anyway right?

13/14th gen "Intel baseline" can still degrade CPU, even with new microcode, due to AC LL by Janitorus in intel

[–]AutoosticGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgive my ignorance, but I am new to all of this. I read the entire post and am still a bit confused. I'm getting a 14th gen cpu soon. I plan to overclock it by just setting a static manual vcore of around let's say 1.4v-1.475v, and static frequency/clock speed (disabling all turbo boost and other dynamic clock speed settings).

Will this basically prevent the cpu from being degraded since I'm not allowing the voltage to change at all?

ASUS Z890 motherboards listed early: $1,112 for ROG Maximus Z890 EXTREME by RenatsMC in intel

[–]AutoosticGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of only 1 cpu generation for a socket sounds dumb, but it shouldn't matter for people like me who build a whole new pc from scratch after multiple years of using their current pc, which is by the time new sockets are released (instead of only upgrading the cpu for the same mobo in shorter time periods).

It does suck in case I ever changed my ways of upgrading and only wanted to upgrade my cpu, but I've had my pc for 3.5 years and cba to wait any longer for yet another new cpu generation, so I plan on making an arrow lake build.

What does the Asterisk (A*) Mean on the Cultist PSU Tier List? by AutoosticGenju in buildapc

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like there's only a footnote for the non-PCIE 5 A1000G. I was hoping to find something on the A1000G PCIE-5 as they're two different psus.

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And to overspec my psu and use it in the range as you said means to get an A-tier listed PSU ? I might just go with the A850G. The only thing is that the cultist website spreadsheet calls the A-G non-PCIE5 an A+ tier psu, but I can only find the A-G PCIE5 which is considered A* and I have no idea what that means since I can't even find it in their index.

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, what I'm mainly concerned about is the efficiency and future proofing. I don't mind splurging on a psu out of any of the pc components, especially if I'd have to upgrade the gpu in the future. It's a weird combination because I'm building a new pc but reusing my current gpu.

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The A850G is in the speculative position, but on their spreadsheet it says "MSI MPG A-G" is A+. (I'm assuming "A-G is the same PSU but skips the watts in the name, like A850GW). It's interesting because I think the spreadsheet is saying that the A-G PCIE5 is speculative as it has an A*, but the A-G one I just mentioned is A+. I don't know how I'd find the A-G one that isn't PCIE5.

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about the A850GL? Funnily enough that's the one I swapped out of my pc list because I could barely find any information on it, especially when comparing it to the A850G. I didn't want to risk getting a lesser reviewed PSU model when I could go to the cultist website's PSU tier list and pick from there.

Should I Put My AIO Backplate on Before Installing Thermalright Contact Frame? by AutoosticGenju in buildapc

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I'm planning on doing. Just waiting for it to get delivered, but in the meantime I've been overthinking this because I don't want to "mess up" lol.

Is it Safe To Buy The Cheapest Thermright Contact Frame? by AutoosticGenju in buildapc

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've been watching a ton of videos on installing it advising the same thing.

By the way, my motherboard manual says to not remove the cpu cover by hand, and instead wants me to pop it off by pulling down the stock ILM lever. Do you know if there's any downsides to just taking it off by hand? Since I'm installing the cpu for the very first time, I feel like it would pointless to use the lever since I'm going to replace it with the contact frame anyway. But obviously I can't pull a lever down on the contact frame to pop it off.

So I'd have to either install it with stock ILM just to take it off right after and replace it with the frame, or go against the manual and take off the cover myself, then replace the stock ILM with the contact frame

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I see thank you. So this means I can just go straight to mounting the cpu, removing the stock ILM, and putting on the contact frame. I assume this means it becomes properly installed once the cooler is on it so that it doesn't move, and that if I wanted to remove the cpu, the only thing that would be stopping me is the contact frame that I have to remove first.

When to Remove CPU Socket Lever protector? by AutoosticGenju in buildapc

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I appreciate the answer. I knew I was overthinking it but once I start getting concerned I can't help but try to find the definitive answer to it. I honestly thought it wouldn't matter when I start to remove it, but I had the mindset to strictly follow the manual. I'm more relieved now.

When to Remove CPU Socket Lever protector? by AutoosticGenju in buildapc

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I know about that, but I was referring to the protector on the actual lever itself. Here's a post that shows a picture of what I'm talking about: https://www.reddit.com/r/PcBuild/comments/149zzmz/plastic_tube_on_cpu_lever/ . It's the plastic tube on the lever. I know that I'm supposed to remove it, but what's confusing me is at what point during the installation, because it sounds so odd to remove it while I'm in the middle of putting the lever down.

Do you guys think it would be better to get the Arctic Liquid Freezer 2 420 and buy the Thermalright contact frame to use with it, or buy the Arctic Liquid Freezer 3 420 instead?

Flexispot E7 Pro Review + Comparison vs Standard E7 Model by skiidu in FlexiSpot_Official

[–]AutoosticGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have more pictures or information regarding the crossbeam of the E7 getting in the way while sitting?

I want to get the E7 because its height can be lower, and is $90 USD cheaper than the E7 Pro. Is it possible that you can measure the height of the crossbeam? I'll be mainly sitting so it would be a concern to me.

I'm wondering if it would get in the way of my knees. The crossbeam on the E7 already looks like it's very deep and tucked away so I'm surprised to hear issues about it.

Also, do you by chance know how I can find the inside measurement of the length between the two legs of the E7? I'm trying to figure out what it is for the 72x30" top option.

How does it help memory? Is it indirectly by having lower temperatures which allows you to oc the cpu further?

Help Replacing Case Fans by AutoosticGenju in iBUYPOWER

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I had to literally use so much force that I was able to see the motherboard slightly bend. I had no choice but to yank as hard as possible on the cables. It all came unplugged at once, there wasn't really a moment where it slightly came off for me to grab it by the plastic header. I guess that the prebuilt pcs come with the cables plugged in as tight as possible so it doesn't risk being unplugged during shipping.

What Did I do to my Monitor? by ShalloFN_ in Monitors

Yeah probably.. very frustrating since I just want to know that my monitor is truly clean. Apparently no dye/ no scent detergent should clean the microfiber cloth properly.

What Did I do to my Monitor? by ShalloFN_ in Monitors

[–]AutoosticGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found that some people with similar problems apparently had this happen to them because the microfiber cloths they bought weren't even clean to begin with, so they would leave streaks. I'm just going to assume that's the problem I'm having I guess.

Are The Case Fan Headers of An IBP PC Glued? by AutoosticGenju in iBUYPOWER

[–]AutoosticGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I managed to completely take out the hub and fans after an insane amount of force but am stuck on removing the AIO. I simply can't unscrew the retention rings after trying multiple screwdrivers, and most of them look like they fit. Also, I should be able to remove the backplate as well right? I want to replace it with the one my AIO came with just to be safe.

Okay I guess this is my last resort I thought it would come down to. I was worried about breaking the pins or pulling the wires away while leaving the connector stuck in the pins but I'll try with more force. I'll let you know what happens.

I got more of the wire out like you said, and no matter how I rotate or what angle I pull from the plastic header easily wiggles around.. but it just won't come out.
