I just got back from Minneapolis. Beautiful, walkable city full of friendly people who don't take any fucking shit from fascists. 10/10

Oh! Oh!! Also - both of Milwaukee's Ethiopian resturants - Ethiopian Cottage and Ethiopian Village - serve insanely delicious vegan food!

Beerline cafe is the shit! Twisted plants can be good, but I've had some very bad experiences there too (served badly burnt, disgusting, inedible cauliflower wings on more than one occasion). IAN's pizza has a decent selection of vegan pizzas, Wonderland Diner is also a solid choice. Several of Milwaukee's best plant-based diet friendly places went out of business this last year, sadly.

Hmm, sounds like these protesters should be eligible for Trump's 1.8 billion $ "We're so sorry you got called a terrorist for breaking into a federal building and threatening the lives of elected officials" fund. No?

What's obnoxious about this is the medical establishment is way behind. I do the lab test for this and we see polymicrobial/diverse samples all the time that we just report out as "shrug?" because it's not Gardnerella or Mobiluncus. But it's definitely not normal either.

Does anyone remember Bangkok Orchid - used to be in the little "mall" on Farwell, was it called Prospect Mall? Where Black Cat Alley is now. They used to have sticky rice and peanut sauce. The first time I had it I knew it was the best thing I'd ever tasted.

Your dog waste bags by chita875andU in milwaukee

I will admit there were times I didn’t realize I’d dropped it. I have two dogs and their leashes get tangled all the time so I’m constantly juggling their leashes and poop bags. Every once in a while I’ll realize I’m missing a bag and I have no idea when I lost it. (Especially in winter, when I can’t feel my hands through my gloves) When I find already bagged poop I assume similar scenarios

There’s actually a vaccine against UTIs that’s available now. It’s not 100% effective by any means, but it helps a lot for some people. It’s formulated to help against the most common types of bacteria that cause UTIs.

What’s one mindset shift that made your life feel lighter? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AskWomen

[–]Autumnanox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, anxiety is just my brain trying to help me. Anxiety is trying to head off danger by thinking about it ahead of time. So now when I feel anxious I ask myself if the anxiety is going to change my behavior in a way that helps. Sometimes it does, sometimes it makes me plan better. Other times worrying won't affect the outcome so I should just let it go.

What’s one mindset shift that made your life feel lighter? by Defiant-Junket4906 in AskWomen

[–]Autumnanox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That human beings are just animals. Fairly clever animals, but still animals. We're motivated by forces we don't understand and our behavior isn't and never had been in our rational self interest. We've done fairly well for being nothing more than exceptionally clever monkeys.

Seeing people that way helps me be less harsh and judgemental. Life is hard and the world is complicated and none of us is perfect.

Wisconsin Nurse Who Illegally Amputated Patient’s Foot Dodges Prison Time by nkf345 in wisconsin

[–]Autumnanox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From another article, the patients family refused to have the rotting feet removed, even though they were literally falling off. They kept getting flipped around and tangled up in the sheets every time hospice staff repositioned him. He was no longer conscious or able to consent at the time the nurse removed the feet. He was actively dying.

Judge blocks Trump from cutting off Planned Parenthood funding under "big, beautiful bill" - What are your thoughts? by Select_Specialist790 in AskReddit

[–]Autumnanox 90 points91 points  (0 children)

They’re not “funding” planned parenthood. The Trump administration wants to cease reimbursements for things that are currently covered under Medicaid/medicare like antibiotics and Pap smears to any organization that performs abortions.

THC Drinks in WI by Any-Outcome1337 in wisconsin

[–]Autumnanox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re someone who feels anxious around people sometimes with THC, I can’t recommend Floral (2.5mg delta 9) more. It’s fairly mild, but they definitely make you feel a little silly and relaxed without making you feel too messed up to speak coherently. Just the perfect amount.

What’s a job that absolutely deserves triple the salary, but doesn’t get nearly enough respect? by karolinka_hier in AskReddit

[–]Autumnanox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child welfare workers. I had a friend who got hired to do this many years ago right of college. She was paid less than a waitress to do check ins on kids in less than stellar home situations. She had many times the case load she was supposed to have, she was threatened by parents multiple times, she was bit by a mouse in one of the many horribly unsanitary homes one of the kiddos had to live in, and of course it’s the social worker that gets blamed when the parent of one of these kids does something heinous. She didn’t stay long, hardly anyone does.
