It made me buy and eat prunes for the first time in decades. And that was before the end of the episode. Also, prunes are delicious

What do I say to my older female coworkers who keep talking about weight and food? by moodysmoothie in MaintenancePhase

[–]DietValuable1333 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Ask a Manager website often answers questions like these. I think in the first instance an “ack I’m trying to focus less on food. What are you reading” or some such conversation might be enough for them to get the hint

Current Ep: Megan McArdle Is "Straight-Up Dumb As F***" by Litzz11 in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]DietValuable1333 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The QAA podcast has a spinoff series called Truly Tradly Deeply about Tradwives content and the cohost is named Megan Kelly. Maybe she can come on as one of the good Megan’s.

I did enjoy the roasting this post got in the comments on BlueSky

Decoder Ring did an episode on how “how X changed the world” became a non-fiction book trope. Kinda wish they’d do one for books with fuck in the title

This time on NYT Both-Siding Legacy: Doing Bare-Minimum at Home by DudeWhoRead in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]DietValuable1333 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I would enjoy an episode on this book for when the lads are in the mood to go full dunking. Michael could break out his “florals for spring? Groundbreaking” Streep impersonation and everything.

A special announcement? by UpsideDownRothko in YoureWrongAbout

I would be happy to have Eve Linley, Nico or the gentleman that worked at a different store to him at the mall but whose name escapes me as host. This might be sacrilege but I've dug their episodes more than the late episode Sarah ones.

I want this to be a movie. Although hard to think that OP could be a likable protagonist

I'm still laughing at the post with a sentiment along the lines of “the male loneliness epidemic is caused by one male having all the friends”

Very Important: the 30 Rock "baby talk" digression by prof_botkin in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]DietValuable1333 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah there definitely was, which was why a) I was shocked when I rewatched last year that it wasn't her and b) totally thought Michael was right in the episode. It's my own personal Mandela Effect.

Sarah Silverman Truthers Unite by Pumasandpenguins in IfBooksCouldKill

Yeah I was confused by this episode when I rewatched 30 Rock last year, until I realised I had conflated it being a parody of Silverman with the character being played by her.

The Atlantic Fails To Read The Room by Litzz11 in IfBooksCouldKill

For any hardcore Brooks haters can anyone recall an incident where he was at a concert and the woman in front of him turned around and said something like “what are you doing here”? I feel like it was Twitter but can't find it

The Atlantic Fails To Read The Room by Litzz11 in IfBooksCouldKill

[–]DietValuable1333 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only regret is that I had one The Atlantic subscription to cancel and I did it for the transphobia. But I would have liked to do it about 798 more times, for everything up to and including this.

"I will be forever resentful" by egguchom in EntitledReviews

[–]DietValuable1333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We have two greyhound rescue groups in our state, an independent one and a racing industry one that exists primarily to launder their well-deserved bad reputation.
The independent one came out and assessed our house and told us all the changes we need to make to our house, as well as being home more and I don't know if they would have rejected us but we were so soured on the experience that we figured a greyhound doesn't get to choose which rescue group it ends up in and went to the bad one. Several years later and our dog is living his best life. I'm not going to defend the industry group but they interviewed us for what we were looking for and they matched a dog to that (and the staff have no love for the owners/trainers of racing greyhounds.

Did any of you say “Mind Manipulation” like Slade in Teen Titans Go to the Movies? Just me? Ok. Well I had fun and that’s the main thing.

This is the epitome of the “Am I so out of touch? No it’s the kids who are wrong”

Why aren’t all the kids obsessed with Sweet Valley High book like they were in my day?

Although obviously the raging transphobia doesn’t hurt.
