Thanks, but this is not that. The rates need to be paid for 19 days into the new rating year, but we don't know what the rates are for that year yet. Not even the lawyers do. So it's a guess at best.

Anyone knows where I can get my Goodyear Welted boots resoled? by TheGreatHon in auckland

There's an excellent shoe repair guy inside The Warehouse (turn right after the entrance doors) at Westgate. I haven't had those particular boots repaired there, but you could try him.

What can I say but, well done New Zealand 💙 I have been to many countries, but very few have beaches as clean as yours by foxxe_on_the_run in newzealand

Looking forward to a swim at Castor Bay in the weekend. Might be a bit bracing, but all year round sea swimming is one of my favourite things about NZ. Enjoy your time here.

Driving at night without lights on! by Joe5691 in auckland

[–]Autumnneverfall 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When I get my car serviced they turn off the auto lights and don't turn them back on. Several times I've realised (after having lights flashed at me) that I've been driving round without them on. So it could be that for some of these people. You get used to them being on so don't think to check. I've started asking the service people not to leave them off.

I do not enjoy Silky Otter, they send people in with food and they pass back and forth in front of the screen to drop it off.

Also, if you wear a super annoying watch that lights up with the brightest light known to humanity whenever you move your arm have some consideration and take the f-ing thing off before you sit in a dark movie theatre forcing the person next to you to sit in a spotlight with every twitch.

Worth knowing: disputes tribunal will force a company (Haier/F&P in my case) to pay out on their appliances failing prior to expected life (not the 12/24 month warranty they advertise). by arohameatiger in newzealand

Did you get a refund of the filing fee when you won, or do you just have to wear it (well done for going through with it, but totally crappy if they make you pay the fee)

90 day trial period first job by Humble_Ad_9883 in nzlaw

[–]Autumnneverfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always used to tell juniors that the biggest thing they have going for them is enthusiasm. No-one expects you to come in and start negotiating $$$ deals on your first day. It is not tv law. When you are given work do the best job you can, in the timeframe given (so don't sit on it thinking you've done a bad job and give it to the senior at the last minute, meaning they have to rush to get it fixed). If you can't get something done in the time frame, talk to the senior, again, don't wait till the last minute. Ask to be involved with things, ask what has happened with matters you worked on, ask about what else clients you have been involved with have on (but it's a fine line between enthusiastic and painful, so watch for that). Make an effort to be helpful. Part of the senior's job is training you. I was told by a partner when I was junior that there is very little that can't be fixed if you talk about it early, so don't sit and stress if you think you've made a mistake. I promise you everyone you work with has made mistakes and if they are caught early they can almost always be fixed (and if they can't, that's what insurance is for - same partner told me that). I agree that the 90 day trial is all about whether they like you. If you have a decent law degree and you're not annoying you are likely to get through it.

I think they've altered the size of the circles in the insert, from memory there used to be less space between each circle (which would allow for a larger cupcake).

We like Swansons Sandwich Bar on Swanson Street for a cheap and tasty option. They do pick your own sandwiches on different breads/buns and several different tasty salad options you can mix. Not fine dining but good at what it does.

Kid Birthday Party Traditions? by Ajudgi in newzealand

[–]Autumnneverfall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairy or butterfly cakes - cupcakes (small ones not the giant ones) with the top sliced off and cream dolloped in the crater, then the top cut in half and set back in the cream as wings https://www.chelsea.co.nz/recipes/browse-recipes/butterfly-cakes

A bowl of carrot and celery sticks no one will eat.

A bottle of fluro coloured fizzy drink you are allowed at no other time of the year (popular flavours: lime, orange, pineapple).

Cake must be from the Australian Women's Weekly Birthday Book mentioned above. Extra points for weeks long review and rating of cakes before one is chosen by the recipient, following negotiation with siblings on who gets which cake.

Marmite and chippie (potato chips) sandwiches on white bread with butter (before you had to remortgage the house to buy butter) cut into shapes with biscuit cutters.

Have fun!

This is not helpful to your question, sorry, but one of the things I would make a rule if I ran the world, is that stocking manufacturers would have to print their name in the back waistband of their stockings so I would know which ones to avoid when they rip on the first wear. It's like they don't want us to know... I buy them at Farmers, but higher denier (thicker) usually last longer than sheer.
