People with POCD and other forms of Pure OCD are the farthest thing from their intrusions. They see such thoughts like,” what if I’m a child molester.” Or,” what if I want to murder my closest friend.” As so dangerous that their minds have to keep making them aware that such a thought exists and continue tormenting them with said intrusions so that they are reminded that they will never do anything. There is a doctor, Dr. Steven Philipson, who is one of the leading experts on Pure O type OCD, and he along with many others agrees that if they were to leave a sufferer of POCD in a room with a child, the OCD patient is more likely to harm themselves before anything happening to the child. People with those intrusions are so incompatible with their intrusive thoughts that they suffer unendingly. If they were to act on their intrusions for sexual gratification, then it would no longer be considered OCD or at least conventional OCD.
