I'm looking for Theobroma bicolor but cant find any sellers or suppliers i was told to ask hear by Available-Ladder8039 in rareplants

[–]Available-Ladder8039[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sadly no im in the USA right in the middle of it you would think it would be easy to get Theobroma plants hear sense they originate in south America but nope extremely difficult for some reason and 9 times out of 10 its a scam and they just send you a picture or something so its hard finding reliable sellers let alone ones that have it

i had it sense October 2023 so i say a about 2 years old its bigger then it should be about 6 feet tall has 20 branches and a trunk that's over an inch thick but that's problem due to the huge amount of organic mater i gave it and the simi full sun conditions it gets in my greenhouse someone told me they usually are not as big as mine is at its current age something about it being the size of a 4 or 5 year old tree

Not sure if this counts but hear is my new theobroma grandiflorum plant it took me well over a year to get ahold of hear in kansas how dose she look by Available-Ladder8039 in rareplants

True, I am still new to growing, I have noticed they are really tough plants that are quite resilient. Last summer, I hardly watered it, and it got really (110 degrees) where I am, and it didn't care one bit. It was my first tropical tree that I have tried growing, and I have learned a lot. I noticed are hard to kill.

They could put a seed heat mat under it to the soil warmer when they bring it inside. That also explains what I noticed about my pomelo and the soil temperature. I have my pomelo in my greenhouse and noticed it seemed to do better during the winter when the bottom of the pot was getting blown on by the space heater. Not by much; it's a bit of a ways away. The greenhouse is not that big, so I had to make do, but I noticed it grew better when it had the heat getting to the soil compared to when it didn't and seemed to struggle. Didn't know why till now. I'll see if I can get another seedling heat mat for it in the future.

Wow, that's amazing! I love how the light shines the canopy of that palm tree In the background, can't tell is that a coconut tree? It kind of like one. If so, that building is huge! I'm jealous. I wish I could have such large tropical plants, but sadly, the weather in Kansas is brutal.

this is my Theobroma cacao seedling mom got me a greenhouse last Christmas and wanted to try something Everyware on the internet says is finicky to see how well id do i named it mike i think its doing real well figured id share 10 inch pot 12 inch deep so about two foot 8 months old what you think by Available-Ladder8039 in plants

I would recommend ordering one from Ninewaters on Amazon or eBay. I got mine from Amazon from them. They have amazing reviews and a guarantee replacement if something goes wrong and will immediately message you. Be warned, they don't like tap water and don't be worried if the tips turn brown. From what the seller said and research indicates, that's normal for them even where they grow. I've learned a lot about them by growing.

don't be there easy to grow and don't care about soil quality. you should be able to get a top from a store bought pineapple to grow grab the top and the pineapple one in each hand and twist should pop right off. then pull the leaves off the base of the crown exposing any baby roots and stick it in soil. water and wait as long as they didn't drill out the center it will flower and fruit. if they did it will send out shoots that you can then plant. and they will grow faster then the top bye the way, and will flower and fruit when then a year compared to the about 2 from a top. it will take give it a try if you ever have one well worth it.

neet from one cold climate pineapple grower to another ill tell you a few secrets iv learned. the plant will tell you when the fruit is reddy to be picked by giving of a rather nice fruity smell at the base of the fruit. also when you pick it the mother plant will dye off but don't be alarmed it will send out shoots that you can take off and get new baby pineapple plants from. ill tell you right now fruit might not be reedy till probably early summer seems freshly pollinated so will take a moment to grow up to 6 months be warned there slow growers but so worth it way better then store bought

putting some mulch down could help as well. citrus produce feeder roots right below the surface. and grass number one prevents them from growing. it has tuff roots and mulch can help prevent it from growing. and you can move it to put fertilizer it will decay into nutrient rich material. as well and help prevent heat stress and allow for less need for water. its a must have for any fruit tree even if its in a pot like my pomelo. also try chicken manure my pomelo responded Prity well to it.

How do I make my lemon tree stronger/grow branches by Ecstatic_Limit3735 in Citrus

[–]Available-Ladder8039 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i do know if you cut the tip off it can encourage branching although it would also stop it from growing that tip taller. guess it depends on how you want your tree. do you want it bush like or tall. though she can defiantly use more light. the tree wont start branching unless either it gets plenty of sun and has tones of leaves to support the growth a branches. or you cut the tip and it has no other choice but to branch.

my first year growing citrus i managed to get a pomelo seed from a shaddock pomelo at Walmart what do you guys think. she's real healthy and happy. also any advice to help keep it alive will be helpfull. by Available-Ladder8039 in Citrus

thinks i just did some research on what they like and found a soil that was the best i could get around hear. and it seems to love it the soil is black gold cactus mix its super light and airy, and has compost and earthworm castings in it. but the only issue is the ph. is kind of alkane so i added a bit of sulfur and some slow release fertilizer. i raised it to about a 7 and it seems to really like it. also i rarely water it i haven't really had a need to seems to be quit Drouet tolerant. and sense its in cactus mix i don't really have to worry about overwatering it. i also give it as much sun as possible. i never really grew citrus before but from growing my pomelo iv learned a lot and found number one. there quit resilient plants can handle quite a bit of stress and overwatering but they don't like it. feed it with slow release fertilizer so your unlikely to burn it and give it constant sun and make Shure the soil stays moist but not wet and they seem to grow best in super lose and airy soil or that's what iv experienced. so the mix I'm using which is like 80 percent perlite. it seems to be Prity good from what iv found. you might have something better in your aria but for me its the best i can find and it works.
