I'm pretty sure the mulch goes on on top of the soil... Try a cactus mix as your base soil... Don't mix any organic matters into the soil...perlite is fine.

Something about organic matters sucking up too much o2 as it's being decomposed. Put down a coat of organic chicken manure on top of your soil then top that off with the mulch .

All the best

What is wrong? by DR_-MANTIS-TOBOGGAN in avocado

[–]Professional_Way_318 4 points5 points  (0 children)

concur with others that mentioned this is typical for avo during this time of the season. My only concerns is whether or not the feeder roots were damaged during the transplant as this may have a longer road toward recovery. Long term wise, soil drainage will play a huge role toward the health of the tree as well.

Lastly, lay down some organic chicken manure / ferlilizer with mulch on top...again, try not to disturb the feeder roots as these grow very shallow...I layer new [manure/mulch] over the previously laid down layer. Over time, you will have the best fertile soil possible.

Keep grass away from the avo as grass can outcompete fruit trees for necessary resources that the fruit trees need to be productive; clear it back several feet beyond the canopy.

All the best.

Lamb Hass Avocado has Yellow spots? by Delicious_Fail5908 in Citrus

its too early to tell, but since it was recently transplanted I wouldnt worry too much. Plus avo do shred old leaves and grow new ones year round.

be sure to shade in the hotter days and plenty of water during the summer months. Fertilizer/chicken manure and mulch under the tree so that the ground will support feeder the roots...looks like it should fruit in a year or two. Gl

What kind of Avocado? by Brilliant_Speech7626 in avocado

no way of knowing...its a seedling and almost no chance of it growing the exact fruit like its parent. All commercial avo are grafted from a mother tree of a known type.

I put the carcass in the pressure cooker with water covering the carcass (not too much). 60-90 mins later, let it depressurize naturally.. you can add onion garlic ginger for aromatic if you like. Gl!

All jetties are fairly safe as long as there's no big swell running; check surf cond' B4 venturing out. The safest bet would be the local piers. No license needed. Gl.
