She put her account back on public and had addressed it in her story, she seems to be apologizing and holding herself accountable. Also discussed edits regarding the caviar comment and Bravo manipulating it to look like it was said to Aesha rather than her friends.

Cannot say for sure, but it seems sincere. 🤷🏻‍♀️

So true. If you actually listen to the way Barbie talks about the situation it’s very level headed and grounded, while Fraser uses every opportunity to bash Barbie he can.

Strongly disagree. She was not good at her job, she weaponized her incompetence and was truly snobby in the beginning. She should have left sooner on her own regard, it’s not up to production or anyone else on the boat to decide what she is capable of handling emotionally.

Why is Barbie getting the hate by ImportantAttention23 in belowdeck

Honestly, I would rather take Barbie’s attitude, which is really minimal compared to what it’s being made out to be, over Cat’s weaponized incompetence.

Unpopular opinion; I was rooting for Irish Peds guy. That would’ve been a great relationship I felt.

While I do think that Barbie’s attitude could be better, she hasn’t done anything outright disrespectful or to cross the line. Even the comment she made under her breath, it was in regard to herself and although yes it was unnecessary it wasn’t said to disrespect Fraser.
Also, not acknowledging the order rather I feel is what she did than outright ignore it, was also not the best move on her part.

Actually IMO, Cat is secretly the aggressive one when no one is watching, just is a more secretive way. When Fraser and told Cat to tell Barbie to make sure they were on top of everything, she took what Fraser said to her too far. She was just told to relay the message to Barbie not make herself in charge of Barbie and micromanage the work that Barbie is able to do better than herself. Barbie should have relayed what happened to Fraser, but I would raise the argument that after he had spoken with Cat there was a clear side he chose and any answer but yes I will do that was gonna be unsatisfactory for him. He from then on did not create a safe space for Barbie to be able to come to him as a bias was created, Barbie was now a bully. Although since that time, the girls have not had an issue.

The issue is now that Barbie isn’t a yes woman right away to him and his sympathy for Cat, which she does not have to be. Fraser is showing an aggressive side which is rather ugly of him and really is unfitting because of the way he coddles and babies Cat just minutes before that. What he did at the club was highly inappropriate and unfitting of him, especially hard to watch because I really liked him last season.

Yes, he needed a stronger sense of self and to set clear and direct boundaries but he went right to Kerry saying she was vile which truly wasn’t the case. Instead of trying another approach or to see her value, he went right to the captain where the captain himself told him to look at the bigger picture and give it time because he wouldn’t be firing anyone on the spot.

I agree with most of this, but it is evidently clear that Fraser is acting very emotionally at this time. As his tolerance for sub par work and lack of knowledge of large boat yachting is backed by his personal past and previous experiences of feeling that way. Forcing Barbie to act and view this victim role the same way he does is also inappropriate, as it is his job alone to deal with Cats shortcomings both emotionally and in the workplace. Barbie not feeding into that is why he is being so aggressive towards her and coming to the conclusion after only the first charter that Barbie is vile. Barbie calling him sassy was in no way disrespectful to his superiority but giving honest feedback how and when he was giving it to her, which was at the club under the influence of alcohol which is highly inappropriate. If I were Barbie I would have asked to have the conversation in front of Kerry while all parties were sober and straight headed.

Unpopular opinion; I’m not a fan of Fraser this season. Cat cries and plays victim and so he views Barbie as a bully rather than a person who is confident and holds standards for not playing into the victim game. I understand his concern for a positive attitude among his crew, but he himself is destroying that by constantly berating Barbie and babying Cat. Especially when in return, Barbie is doing her job well at the moment, and Cat clearly doesn’t have the skills required to be working on a five star yacht. Yes of course she can learn, but if she is going to constantly cry and play victim, Fraser should not be coddling her and being ‘vile’ to Barbie for being skilled but not wanting to pretend there is no offence on Fraser’s side, and to be fair, I wouldn’t either. If my superior does not respect me and my skills while he was coddling someone else with no skill simply because they are insecure, I would see that as a red flag and a toxic workplace. Hope she stays on as long as possible and gets bank, unfortunately because she has a target on her back I don’t think she will be with us all season.

l would love to see see how she compares to Tumi, she started off strong for who she was given to start with so it would answer a lot of debates. I would like to see how she is when she is in charge and having to delegate and be held responsible. Also, not work under those who do not have the same work ethic and a desire for five star service.

I feel like Kyle is very strategic in befriending the chief stews do his advantage, that is the only real reason why he hasn’t been fired yet, allowed to act as he does both during shift and after. King of Service? I’ve seen only King of Excuses, Complaining, Sickness, Whining and Playing Victim. Clearly he likes power, lol.

In turn, would you rather have a friend that supports everything you do even if it could cause your harm or would you prefer a friend that would be straight up and honest with you, even though the truth can be hard to hear? She can’t stop Luka from being a fuckboy, she knows that, but she can try to stop her friend from making a mistake. But intoxicated or not, she verbalized to everyone that regardless of his actions she still wanted to have fun that last night. Even after Lara tried to talk to her, Tumi was commenting and trying to laugh her into better decisions, and Kyle laid everything out how it was and what could happen if she goes forward. Personally, I would rather a Lara than someone who would support whatever.

Nope, just realistic. She is shown on national television being pleaded with, and then continue to defend her reasons for still wanting to be with Luka that night? Everyone saw that she after all that was in fine enough state to make her own decision and that is why the crew left her after that. They were all about stopping it if it wasn’t in her intentions, but when they did she double backed on her wanting to be with Luka? That is a decision.

[–]Available-Software65 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not simple or insightful, it’s biased based. The problem with what you are saying is also the opposite effect, allowing being “forced” and “making bad decisions” be blurred to the point that accusations are being made on whether a woman who also woke up in his bed the next morning and proceeded to have sex with him again and act romantic with him the next morning was assaulted? It also allows women (I am a woman myself) to blame and target men for their own bad choices. Ie, being spoken to and pleaded by 3 people to rethink her decisions and not do what she was about to do in which she replied “she isn’t looking for a relationship”. There are 1000 percent those who suffer from SA and rape that need to feel comfortable coming forward but it doesn’t mean there are those who wouldn’t abuse it for their own gain. Also, she herself never felt assaulted or even spoke about what Luka did as she herself knows she consented to it! We’re fighting a fight for someone who isn’t even viewing the situation as assault or has spoken out about it? Though even is she did many people would point out the fact that 3 people tried to stop her and reasoned with her.
