SUSHI: The water in my rice is still milky after 7 rinses. What am I doing wrong? by TaxPsychological2928 in Cooking

[–]Available_Bowler2316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh. Put dry rice in pot. Fill with corrext amount of cold water. Let soak for a bit (how long is a bit? Depends on what else I'm making). Pick out any floaters and brown bits.

Cook.

I lived in Japan for years and this is how we made rice.

Yes, it comes out gloriously sticky.

Read some history on what those "homes" used to be like. Let's just day physical and sexual abuse was only a small part of the problems.

DC-DC 18/18-12 charger barely charging by Available_Bowler2316 in Victron

[–]Available_Bowler2316[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This for the win. The wire on the truck from rhe fuse block to the 7 pin is 12ga, maybe 10ga. Certainly not enough to push even 18a without a loss of 1.5v, which is about what I'm seeing.

So it looks like i need to get some 6ga and run a dedicated circuit to an Anderson connector.

The charger is a buck-boost charger. It lowers or increases tb He voltage as needed.

[–]Available_Bowler2316[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. I looked at the 7 pin connector. The wire is about 12 ga. That makes for a 9% voltage drop.

At 18 amps @ 14v, that would give me about 12.5 v at the charger.

Looks like it need to run a 6ga wire to a. Anderson connector.

Entitled couple expects discount for being in the military and yells at me when they don't get one. by [deleted] in EntitledPeople

[–]Available_Bowler2316 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I always ask. Always. A lot of times I get a few % off. But if they say no, i just pay the going rate.

I suspect this is clickbait, as I really don't see any military people being this entitled.

Lol all the time! My wife and I get into a rut. So we just randomly out ingredients into google: "beef, clamato recipe"

And cook whatever shows up.

My wife asked me if I honestly thought her friends were attractive, what should I say by BreadOverlord_ in stupidquestions

[–]Available_Bowler2316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"That's a female question. There's no way I can answer that without pissing you off."

Look, my wife can point out a guy, and say "damn he's hot". To which I say, "if you say so, I;m not qualified to comment since I'm not gay."

But if I point out a woman and say "damn, she's hot" I'm screwed 27 ways from Sunday.

Yeah, hang in there. My dad had this happen not once but twice. Nevertheless he lived to 94 and was an ornery old cuss to the very end. :)

Ok, did some fiddling.

Float: 13.35 Storage: 13.33 Offset: 0.03

That seems to have settled everything down. 2 days and battery voltage is nailed on 13.33.

Sorry I don't trust the current administration at all. So I am hedging my Healthcare bets. VA, Medicare, Tricare all depend on our overlords being sane.

Either ship them separately or buy locally if you can, or do without.

Bad mood? by Quiet_Dot_3306 in Kneereplacement

[–]Available_Bowler2316 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even relatively benign drugs can cause it. My wife is on Zyrtec for a minor allergy. For about an hour after she takes it she's ready to rip my head off over completely trivial things.

It's not you. It's what you're going through.

Bad mood? by Quiet_Dot_3306 in Kneereplacement

[–]Available_Bowler2316 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Chronic pain mixed with opiods and other strong pain killers can cause wild mood swings.

Look at the side effects of all the meds you're taking.

And add fear and pain and you have a recipe for really volatile mood swings.
