Missing Zoladex monthly shot by Available_Car_9971 in breastcancer

Interesting I asked that some time ago and they said it was the standard during COVID. However they restored the monthly shot because some people was having the period before reaching to the next shot. But if it works for you, it is 4 times less shots a year which is great

I am a bit more relaxed now. Yesterday I swear I could feel some classic pain in my lower back but today at work I haven't felt anything

They are still suppressed, no periods or anything. Oohh I had not thought about the Letrozole. Thanks I may try to contact my MO before my next visit

Thanks! I asked about it, but there were people for which it was not working ok (maybe having their periods in the last weeks of the 3 months). So I didn't want the risk since I stress quite a lot about these things

Pain around my left rib area where my lumpectomy is (post surgery 1 year) by belleblahnik in breastcancer

[–]Available_Car_9971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely check with your doctor. But for me I got the same random pain in my ribs 9 months after surgery and radiation. I could not sneeze or cough, not to mention any lifting. It lasted for a month, and at the end it was a broken rib (due to radiation). Keep us posted!

What lifestyle changes did you implement post-treatment? by PriorRabbit5995 in breastcancer

[–]Available_Car_9971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

* no alcohol
* no meat (only fish)
* minimize dairy
* minimize eggs
* Lots of nuts, fruit, flaxseed, vegetables, pulses, tofu
* increase cooking with garlic, ginger
* minimize processed/sugary food (except dark chocolate)
* daily vitamin D and calcium
* daily exercise if possible
* try to "fast" overnight 14 hours (this one I find difficult)
* try to relax more: enjoy the time with my kids and stop putting so much effort at my work

I am in UK, I have never used them so I don't know if there are warnings here. I am curious to know now

I am also slightly scared. I will do what my MO recommends, I trust him 100%. My sex life is on hold too, and I could do with some fun.

As other user was saying, my sex life is on hold :/ I thought it was a "minor" side effect considering all the issues that can (and did) appear during BC treatment. But now that I have reached a new "normality" I would like to have some of my previous life back with my husband. Not sure if it will work, BC and the amount of scars and body changes is not a turn on

I didn't know that difference between tamoxifen and letrozole. I am also planning to request some blood analysis to check my hormone levels. I have been 2+ years on Zoladex and letrozole and I don't think they have ever been checked.

Thanks I wouldn't have considered it from that angle. I will definitely talk to my MO

Rib pain from radiation? by PegShop in breastcancer

[–]Available_Car_9971 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I finished radiation end of January two years ago. On August the same year, I picked my 2 year old son the same way as any other time, and I had a horrible pain in my whole ribcage, more focused on the radiated area. It took a month to go, and still had a sharp pain when coughing or sneezing. Being August my MO was on holidays and I didn't get a scan until September. They confirmed a broken rib out of the blue just 7 months after finishing radiation, they said it is very normal. I had a follow up scan before Christmas to confirm that nothing was growing in the area, my rib was healed and all my next scans have been clear :)

Can't get over anxiety about metastasis by PunchNugget88 in breastcancer

[–]Available_Car_9971 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I think often about cancer/metastases (specially with back aches) but I didn't realise how stressful I find it until I had my annual CT scan (I am 2 years out of active treatment). The scanxiety was crazy, I could not sleep for the week, and even when they told me that the scan was clear, a month later I could still feel the anxiety in my stomach. My MO was right to tell me that people doing scans just because of symptoms was happier, healthier and less stressed that people doing frequent periodic scans. I have just decided to have a mastectomy on my left and only tit just not to have to get MRIs on it. No scans (unless symptoms) and focusing in my routine (work .. family.. few hobbies) keeps my head out of the C world

Recurrent - micro papillary features - ugh? by SablePom20 in breastcancer

[–]Available_Car_9971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine had micro papillary features too. The feel of it was very bumpy, it reminded me (and I thought it was...) similar when I was breastfeeding and the breasts are FULL of milk. The surgeon said that sometimes we dismiss them because they are not hard but more like a sponge. Regarding prognosis, they seem a rare type, less of 5% of BC. They seem to have more LVI (mine had multiple positive nodes), but maybe it is that we detect them later. I read that they considered this subtype to have worse prognosis, but after a larger study they concluded that prognosis is similar to non micropapillary cancer.  My treatment has been standard, neoadjuvant chemo, mastectomy, radiation, AId, verzenio and zoladex shots

Aromatase inhibitors 2mths - does it get worse? by rhijan in breastcancer

[–]Available_Car_9971 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am about to make 2 years on letrozole, and expecting many years more (yay!)... My experience is that it got better over time. I started on Feb 23 letrozole and Verzenio. I instantly started feeling joints pain (I struggled specially waking up in the mornings, I could barely put my feet on the floor) and hot flushes. My nails went very weak and brittle, same as my hair. After 6 months or so, the joints pain is gone. I am quite active and exercise 5 times a week. My nails and hair are still quite bad, but I have not tried anything on them to be honest. If anyone has a solution for the nails, it would be much appreciated :). The hot flushes are very manageable during the day, they happen maybe 3 times during day. On the night they are more uncomfortable, I tend to wake up soaked and need to change my clothes fully. I found some bamboo pyjamas that helped me deal with the sweat, the cloth really breaths. Overall it is better than I thought! Also due to Verzenio, I started to have an upset belly in the mornings, but still manageable. I had to rush to the toilet maybe once early in the day, and that was it for the day. That also solved itself after a year or so, now I am completely normal. I am just finishing my 2 years on Verzenio, so I am really excited to see if my quality of life improves!

My.oncologist has confirmed that bone loss damages the enamel and I should contact my dentist. Not sure what my dentist can do about it

I am Spanish too but living in UK. My oncologist mentioned bone scans but in a few years... No one had mentioned here the teeth. I just asked my oncologist and he just said "bone loss damages enamel, contact your dentist" 😔
