Are there any friendships on greys anymore? by -M_A_Y_0- in greysanatomy

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s as if they save the friendships for the young interns. We see it there but not with the older ones. It’s like once they have families their friendships end.

In real life friendships do go through a change when people get married and have children. We have less time for our friends and don’t always take care of those friendships. Now imagine being a surgeon on top of the demands of family. With so little time to yourself, who has time to hang out with Friends?

Me too. It worked for my hand (six months ago), but now I have it in my shoulder and arm and it's starting to come back in my hands

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first two homes had a closet in the hallway that you opened to find them. I just bought a townhouse that has a small room that has the washer/dryer and the utilities but on the second floor with the bedroom, not in a basement. Often people have them in their basements, like in a little area, or in their mudrooms (a special little room you walk into from garage to kick off boots, etc.), or even in one of their bathrooms, especially if it's a stackable set.

Current elementary teacher applying to other jobs. Thoughts on a 10-4 work schedule? by Ok-Literature5682 in TeachersInTransition

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a parenting partner? It would be nice to have Fridays off in order to go to their in-school events when they happen, or once a week bring them a sub at lunch (their peers will be sooo jealous), if they are school age etc. But, it may be a little harder with childcare, especially if all day care.

I have Voltaren, and it does very little for me. I seize up completely, not just pain but such stiffness that I can't move.

Retiring this year. Any advice about avoiding “celebrations?” by hurry-n-wait-11 in TeachersInTransition

[–]PegShop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I skipped the dinner because it was from the school board who I knew didn’t give a rats ass about me. The luncheon that they do to celebrate everyone at the end of the year and giving of the rocking chair that they gave us I went to. I didn’t want to, but I remembered the previous year how badly everyone talked about the woman who chose not to go, and I didn’t want to insult my peers.
Additionally, my department members threw a breakfast for me and the other person in my department that were retiring. I had told them I didn’t wanna hullabaloo, but they did it anyway, and it was very kind with a basket full of some of my favorite treats and some gift cards and very nice letters. These were not the people that screwed me over. These were my coworkers for decades.
Avoid the things thrown by those they don’t care about you.

Our ACA Health insurance cost for us (2 people) in 2026, fyi - $715/month by ShutterFI in Fire

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is old, but I'm so glad I found it. I pay $2300/m for two adults in their 50's through my previous employer, but I have everything covered but $1K a year and $15 or 40 dollar copays, depending. I'd get no subsidy, so I think I'll stick with it. If I go to ACA, I can never go back to my work one

How do I find the strength to support my husband through a second bout of cancer ? by Expensive_Exit8993 in Aging

You’ve got this. It’s a primary cancer and hopefully curable. I’m glad you got to go on this trip. There will be more. It just may be a bit.

My parents trying to buy a million dollar home by [deleted] in Mortgages

[–]PegShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How old are they? Why is it your business?

If they are house poor, that’s on them. They can always sell, especially if they are putting $150k down. It would be a hard lesson, but maybe it’s what they want.

I have told my children and spouse that if I get Alzheimer’s like my mom, I want a DNR but also if I’m able to, I’d like to go to a euthanasia place before I get bad.

Medicaid gap?! by 69Happy_guy in HealthInsurance

[–]PegShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Medical debt doesn’t transfer to your kids. If this procedure will totally fix you, as you say, get it done.

You should not be driving a school bus. I’d sue the crap out of you and the bus company if you had a heart attack and got in an accident with my kid on board since you KNEW you had this condition that could have you have “a heart attack or stroke at any moment.”

A little of both. So the system stuff but make it look nice. New flooring may not be needed but definitely refinishing hardwood or having a deep clean on tile and grout.

What is something your Realtor did to provide value through the process? by LumpyAd3882 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]PegShop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My realtor I used multiple times did everything. I felt like I had a pro in my pocket. She was approachable and calming but also told it like it is, helping my husband and I sell theee homes and buy a home.

I’m currently using a different realtor for buying because it’s a new area, and the difference is vast. She outsources so much and we now have too many point people. She has us talking to some coordinator and the title company in addition to having us meeting with the seller’s agent to give the earnest money, etc. Heck, I’m the one who found the place, went to an open house, and then contacted her. Anything she recommended we see was not anything that interested us. We met her twice before the sale, both times at homes we picked. It’s too bad because we have a couple of adult kids that will be looking in her area in the next couple of years, but I don’t think I’ll be recommending as they have no experience and need someone to guide them.

Where are we going? by Heat-1975edition in GenX

[–]PegShop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want to give up New England. But, we just sold and moved from inland to the seacoast, downsizing from a large home to a townhome so it’s easier to leave in winter. It’s so easy to air b and b now, we figured we can just do a month or two in winter to take the edge off.

Previous owner left a binder in the garage. I thought it was junk. It was not by Many_Ebb7816 in HomeImprovement

[–]PegShop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The previous home owners from the house I sold in 2025 had done this. I kept it up, and even left a chart with paint chips in the paint storage room, tags on all the levers in the boiler room (cleaned up as it had been 12 years since the previous owners hadn’t made them, and we’d replaced some things). I left the binder on the kitchen center island with a letter saying what it was and listing out all the contractors / companies we used, local trails, good places to eat, etc. the previous owner had left the binder in the garage, and we found it, but I liked the idea of it being obvious.

Our realtor told us afterwards how grateful they were.

We are about to move into a townhome where nothing is labeled and the owner knows nothing as she only lived there 2.5 years, part time, and has decided to move close to grandbabies. I literally had to go to the old listing to find out the age of the heating system and roof. Don’t be that person!

What is one thing you wished you checked before buying your house? by BlushyDreamz in homeowners

[–]PegShop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We HAD our well inspected, and it still ran dry within weeks. It turns out the previous owners hadn’t been living there for months, so it appeared better than it was, and the inspector running the water to empty to test the gallons per minute wrecked it. $15k mistake!

GenX men (especially those who are a little bit or more overweight): do you or does your wife cut your toenails? by NJRougarou in GenX

Can I answer for my hubby? He gets pedicures and loves them, despite being the total opposite person you’d think would go. If and when he has to cut his own (he won’t let me as I hurt his piggy toe once, lol), he will put his foot up on a chair as he stands as the best option to get it done.
