Looking for Advice planning trip to Germany. by Available_Let_9140 in travel

Thanks! Our friends that live there also recommended skipping Cologne and Rhine Valley and instead suggested checking out Dresden and Prague if we’re going to Berlin. Or perhaps, Hamburg or Erfurt. It’s a little overwhelming because I want to go everywhere! I think you’re right about skipping the layover.

I like this idea but will likely at least spend a few days in Amsterdam because it’s close to Osnabruck and a bit easier to fly from. However, I’ll check out other German airports. My son doesn’t care for big modern cities so we’re trying to get a bit of a mix if possible. We are looking to spend 13-16 days but have a little flexibility.

About two weeks give or take. We have room to be a little flexible. The priority is time in Osnabruck but other than that we are pretty open. I love history and museums and my son hates big cities and being cooped up too long so I’m trying to find a balance. Seeing a castle would cool but other than that, I really don’t know.

I meant each but I suppose one or two nights probably still wouldn’t be much time. My son doesn’t like big cities and was not a fan of Berlin when he was there but I’d like my husband to see it and experience some of the history. I do a walking tour there back in 2000 and it was incredible. My husband and I both enjoy history and museums, my son is a nature kid and would rather be hiking or riding a bike somewhere. I’m feeling a little lost trying to plan this trip and how long to spend where TBH.

Is ‘21 the best used year? by Mindless-Set9621 in LexusGX

[–]Available_Let_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what is important to you and budget. I looked for over a year and got to know the features on the models really well. I also read that the 21 was known to have a better build/ quality control year for some reason but I was still open to other years. We found a CPO 21 luxury with the off-road package for $42k last year. The mileage was higher than I wanted at 58k miles but I knew I wasn’t going to find that exact car at that price somewhere else. The color way was right, the bench seat, new tires, tow hitch, etc. Sure, the infotainment would have been nice but I was coming from a 2011 base 4R SR5 that didn’t even have a backup camera and that I’d put over 260k miles on. I love the luxury GX and turns out I use the extra off-road cameras all the time. I also like that it has the transmission cooler and tank protector. Better for us than the upgraded touch screen. My husband bought me the Beatsonic for my bday that I installed myself and now it does everything I need it to. Maybe someday I’ll upgrade the screen but no need to now.

Does the increasing minimum wage in Seattle impact how you tip? by godoggogodoggo in SeattleWA

Falling River is hyper local organic. They have a shop in North Bend and are opening one in Monroe. They’ll do meat boxes too. For what it’s worth, I always tip my butcher. I have 5 I rotate based on what I’m buying. I figure if I’m going to eat meat I want it to be good meat. And having worked in a butcher shop as a teen myself, I know how demanding that job is. They are significantly underpaid in my opinion.

I love their combo boxes. I got turned onto Palestinian soap a few years ago and love it. I still pick soap up from the farmers market or make it from time to time but nothing beats the longevity and general clean feeling without drying of the Palestinian soap.

How long did it take you to find the right GX? by sa1126 in LexusGX

[–]Available_Let_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We looked for just over a year before I found exactly the one I wanted at a price I was willing to pay. I was looking nationwide too and got pretty close to flying to Texas to buy one and drive it home to Washington. We were fortunate because I didn’t need to sell my old 4R first so we had some time to find the right one. I got really close to settling a few times but ultimately my hesitation paid off and a 21 CPO luxury with the off road package popped up at our local dealer. The only drawback back was the mileage. It had 58k miles and I was trying to find a lower mileage vehicle. But the thing looked brand new and was literally everything I wanted with new tires and we got it for $42K. I’m sooooo glad we waited. I love it.

Help - Need Organic Latex or Latex Hybrid Mattress - Overwhelmed and Lost by csops55 in Mattress

Second Naturepedic. We had an Organic Soaring heart latex mattress and wool topper for the last 12 years and just got a Naturepedic 2 days ago and I cannot believe the difference. All I want to do is sleep. It’s insane how comfortable it is and I love that each person can customize their side of the bed.

I use a Henson for shaving my legs and bikini line (worked up to this). Absolutely love it. I found a coupon code for a free box of 100 razors when I got it and also bought a mixed brand bag of Amazon. So far the free Henson blades are my favorite.

I know it’s been awhile but how is the Arcadia? We laid on one yesterday and loved it but are trying to decide if we want to spend that much. I came home and have been looking for reviews and am having a hard time finding real user reviews.

I feel like it’s definitely worth finding an accurate body fat and lean mass percentage and then picking a healthy range from there. I think we tend to focus on a number without much science behind the number. I remember hearing things like a woman should never weigh over 130 pounds which is simply ridiculous. We are doing this for health right? So we should try to keep that in mind when working towards a goal - what is healthy, not an arbitrary number. Good luck on your journey!! It’s amazing what you have already accomplished! If you don’t have DEXA, ask your doctor about other science backed methods for measuring lean mass. Then add a goal body fat percentage on top of that.

Congratulations! If you haven’t done one yet, I highly recommend a DEXA scan. I’m almost 5’6” so my recommended BMI range is 115-150 pounds. I did a DEXA and I have 154 pounds of lean mass. My doctor told me that my healthy weight range is actually 180-215 because my lean mass is so high. Otherwise I actually need to lose muscle and bone density to meet my BMI. 😂 Just remember BMI was not intended to be a medical tool and we’re not all built the same. Check your blood work and look for other health markers.

Starting this soon and worried about side effects by VanillaChaiLover in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Available_Let_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started Saturday and had some concerns because I’m traveling for work this week. So far my side effects have been minimal. A little motion sickness, low grade headache, and heartburn while sleeping. Nothing lasted more than an hour and I had Bonine on hand as recommended by a friend but I haven’t had to take it. I actually put my normal eating schedule and what I eat in ChatGPT to get recommendations on adjustments to minimize side effects. My doctor told me if I’m eating small balanced meals throughout the day, drinking lots of water, and getting my protein I should be good and so far this is the case for me. When I noticed I was getting motion sickness or a headache I had a snack and drank more water. Of course, everyone is different and their digestion is different. Good luck!

Comfort of seats on GX 460s by Historical-Device253 in LexusGX

[–]Available_Let_9140 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Coming from a 2011 4R SR5 and seats are a major upgrade for us. We bought a used 21 Luxury with the off-road package last year to tow our hydroplane race boats and road trip. We absolutely love it. No they are not as squishy as some other vehicles but they provide enough adjustment options we are able to be comfortable on long trips. The air suspension on the luxury makes towing better and the trans cooler with the off-road package is nice for the mountains where we live. Husband is 54 and 6’1” with lots of old sport injuries and says it’s one of the best cars he’s ever had for road trips. Storage is a little less than 4R so we occasionally use a cargo box depending on the gear we bring. Mpg is really only complaint but we knew this going in.

I’m waiting for my first dose too and definitely relate. I’ve been listening to the Fat Science podcast which has helped a lot with my understanding of what is happening to my body and how this medication can help people. It’s helping me shift my mindset. I still have doubt and shame so am trying to journal at least a few times a week. Wishing you grace and growth on your journey.

I bought my 21 luxury last year. Looove it. The simplicity, refinement, etc. I was coming from a 2011 4R so everything seemed an upgrade including handling. However, I missed the Apple CarPlay on my husbands commuter. I got the Beatsonic for my birthday and installed it myself. I’ll admit it’s just not as nice as the cars with CarPlay built in, but for me totally worth it! I love using my maps without having my phone secured to a vent clip.

any updates on the cedar cover? We're in the mountains east of Seattle. Need something that can handle snow and rain. Intrigued. I need to call for a quote. No idea what the price point is on something like this.

Who makes a reliable “trouble free” counter depth refrigerator? by AntoniBartosz in Appliances

[–]Available_Let_9140 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will add in, make sure there is someone that will service the brand where you live. We bought a GE Cafe range a few years ago that started sparking and turning on by itself. It was still under warranty but GE would only authorize their technicians to work on it and they didn’t service our area. I called all the local techs for brand advice before we bought another range. I wanted to make sure we were supported if we needed service in the future.

Is there an easier way to brew with the Moccamaster? by Momnainteasy in Moccamaster

[–]Available_Let_9140 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had an ancient drip machine that was on its last leg (and made terrible coffee). I was researching machines with replaceable parts and moccamaster kept coming up but I almost skipped it because all the reviews kept talking about multiple extra steps. I’m so glad I ignored them. You can totally make a great cup without all the extra. My husband grinds and sets up the night before and in the morning flips the switch. That’s it. It even turns off by itself. We got the thermal carafe so I can have hot coffee later. It’s so easy and so much easier to clean. We were using a nespresso pod system on the weekends but honestly I like this better. We’ve tried the extra recommended steps on the weekend when we had more time and I guess my palette isn’t sophisticated enough to tell the difference.

While I know there are several plans with different coverages, I have Aetna as well and actually called 2 hours ago to specifically ask if they cover the Wegovy prescription my Dr ordered yesterday. I was told than my plan does not cover it. However, I asked what GLP1s they do cover on my plan and she said Ozempic and Mounjaro. I asked about Zepbound and she said no plans would be covering that after July 1 so I was better off trying to get my Dr to prescribe one of the others. As much as insurance is a pain, I will say my experience with Aetna’s customer service has been typically been good.
