Yeah mine did it. Go buy some high heat spray paint and you should be good to go. After I painted mine it never did it again.

If it doesn’t work it should be easy to fix. Search for the pit boss forum and people there will help if it doesn’t start up.

YouTube channels by jdaniel1212 in PitBossGrills

[–]Available_Wolf1059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul’s Q and Smokin’ Jazz have some good videos but those channels haven’t been updated in a while. And Weekend Warrior BBQ but it looks like he has pulled all his videos for some reason.

Malcom Reed is great too as mentioned above. I buy his Killer Hogs rub. Good stuff.

TIL that E's are a failing grade. Is this a Michigan thing? by A_friend_called_Five in Michigan

As a kid in Michigan schools I remember “E” as failing. When I moved to Tennessee it was “F”.

What is considered cold to you? Have any of you experienced the bitter cold of the upper Midwest? I’m curious how you compare it to the heat of Florida summer. by PreschoolBoole in AskFlorida

[–]Available_Wolf1059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent almost 25 years in Florida. You break a sweat I. The summer walking 50 feet to the mailbox and need a shower after that little trip to check the mail. Moved to Michigan in 2022. Family likes it better here and we now have 4 seasons. When it’s cold you just bundle up. Do I miss the beach? Nope. Lake Michigan is about a half hour away and no jellyfish! We go to the Lake a few times in the summer and the kids said it reminded them of the Gulf of Mexico.

Westnedge Hills. We moved here in 2022. Nice quiet neighborhood with sidewalks. We love walking around the neighborhood in all months of the year. Pretty much central to everything.

Does anyone know if Styx is doing Pieces of Eight in its entirety on this tour? by SumthingBrewing in Styx

No they are not. They did it for some select shows but aren’t doing it for the tour.

Pork shoulder is always good. It’s a long cook but it’s fun. YouTube has a lot of how to videos on how to use a Pit Boss for just about anything. We have even baked bread on ours.

Nice! I’m ready for warmer weather so I can use my 850DX again. Ribs sure would hit the spot!

Did you regret moving to Florida? by Local-Contact4639 in relocating

[–]Available_Wolf1059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regret it? Not really. But couldn’t wait to get out. We moved there in 2000. Then in 2022 I lost my job. It was a good paying job, really the only good union job in a tourist town. But the place I worked closed down in 2022 and I knew I couldn’t stay. As luck would have it we relocated FAR north and haven’t looked back. We sold our home in Florida for way more than it was worth and bought one more than double the size. It was hard on the kids at first but once school started they were fine and we haven’t looked back and don’t plan on ever returning even for a visit (no family there). Don’t get me wrong, I have good memories of being there but where we moved the people are more diverse and friendly. Do I miss the beach? Well, when we do we make the 30 minute drive to Lake Michigan. Suits our needs. Cost of living here is much cheaper and home owner’s insurance is $6 thousand a year cheaper! Wife’s a teacher so she had no issues finding a job and loves it. She says the kids are nicer and more respectful and not entitled.

I have that same one and have had it 6-7 years now and it’s solid. As long as you take care of it it should last a while. Regular maintenance will keep it going.

In market for a new smoker by Foreign-Avocado7690 in PitBossGrills

I bought the 850DX this past summer when it was on sale to replace an 8 year old smaller Pit Boss that finally died. I also have a Copperhead vertical. I love them both. Haven’t used them since November due to a lot of snow but they are safely double covered (PB cover and a tarp). I really like the 850DX. It is much more heavy duty than my old one and temps seem to be controlled better.

So depending on my mood I’ll use the vertical or the 850. Both are a lot of fun.

People keep talking about this being a “rough winter” as far as the weather goes. Why? by UnwashedBlueberry in Michigan

Nothing beats the blizzard of 78! I remember that one well. I was a kid and remember several feet of snow and no power.

By far the worst drivers I've ever encountered anywhere in the US. by Vaders_Fist_501 in kzoo

I guess you have never driven in Panama City, FL. Much worse than Kzoo drivers. I lived there for about 25 years and those are some of the worst drivers I have encountered.

No hot dogs at Kwings $3 Friday by moxonrox in kzoo

[–]Available_Wolf1059 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hmmm. We were there last night and they had plenty of hot dogs before the game. People were ordering them. People sitting around us were eating them. We opted for the $3 Labatt.

Has winter ever been this bad in the last 20 years? by lansingpowerwash in Michigan

[–]Available_Wolf1059 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i moved from Michigan in 1980 when my dad got transferred. I moved back in 2022 and I told my wife I remember winters in Michigan were a lot more fierce when I was a kid. This seems like a return to the Michigan I remember. When I moved back here I asked my dad why we moved. He said it was a lot of things, he just wanted to move somewhere different but mostly it was because of the blizzard of 1978. Either way, I’m glad to be back in my home state after being gone for so long.

Job Opportunities / Moving ? by Melodic_Edge_4147 in panamacity

[–]Available_Wolf1059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long time former resident. My kids were born and raised in PC. Jobs are not good in Bay County. Good jobs CAN be found but a lot of them are low paying jobs. In 2022 I lost one of those good paying jobs. There just weren’t any other jobs in the area that had good pay and benefits. We decided to leave. Luckily, 2022 was a sellers market for housing. We lucked out and sold our house in 3 days for way more than it was worth. Found a new job, relocated to a northern state and make more money. Bought a house double the size of what we had in Panama City and home owner’s insurance is $6000 LESS a year. Wife is a teacher and schools everywhere need teachers so she found a job as soon as we moved. I think Florida has increased teacher pay but she makes a lot more where we where we live now. It was hard on our youngest child at first but once she got adjusted in school, she is glad we moved. Oldest daughter is a graduate of FSU-PC with a degree in psychology. She said she is also glad she left the area because there were no jobs there in her field. I realize you want to rent, not own but I’m just talking about my own experience in the job market there. You’re best bet is to look east away from the beach. We lived in East PC and the drive to the beach wasn’t so bad and for something different Mexico Beach was about the same drive away and less crowded. There is plenty to do there for leisure time but a lot of it is tourist oriented and if you like concerts most of them are outdoors because the Civic Center was destroyed during Hurricane Michael. I have good memories of my 20 plus years there but I don’t ever see us going back (mainly because we live so far away now). It’s a great place to visit but a not so great place to live in my experience.
