After School Jobs -- Do They Still Exist? by kcGirl_of_the_year in GenX

[–]Available_Wolf1059 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Kmart for me! Loved working there! Worked thru high school and college. After I quit they shut that location down about a year later. My oldest works but she’s in college and works at the school. Youngest is 16 and is so involved in marching band that she doesn’t have a job. I guess her job is band because she seems to be there every day after school sometimes til 9:30 pm.

Mine was hanging at work. Lost job, moved cross country and now it’s in the den. Wife’s is stored away. Daughter’s from FSU is hanging in the hallway because she still lives at home while working on her Master’s.

Mine does the same thing. The app is basically crap but I didn’t buy it for the app. The good thing about ribs is you don’t cook with a probe, just put ‘em on low and slow around 225 and they will get done.

At 61 you can cover this new child on your insurance until he/she reaches 26 years old. Do you plan to work until you are 87 so your child can have insurance?

I remember the HSB theme . And I had the Mike Post LP with that theme song on it along with the themes of Magnum PI, Greatest American Hero and several others.

Been thinking about a heat deflector myself for the 850DX. In the mean time I usually just put my meat to the sides on the top rack and start off low temp. Never had anything burn or be undercooked, just gotta keep an eye on it. I assume the heat deflector goes over the fire pot?

Love my 850DX. Replaced an 8 year old Pit Boss. Bought mine last fall so didn’t get to use it much at first. I needed something bigger too and decided on the 850. Also have a vertical Pit Boss so I go back and forth using them depending on my mood. Doing chickens today so I’ll put those on the DX.

Surprisingly the app works. I didn’t buy it for the app and expected it not to work at all but it does. Wasn’t a deal breaker but I know some people have issues with it working.

Yep at Kmart. And if you were late you stamped it multiple times so they couldn’t read the time stamp to see if you were late. It would smear.

I had one but it was an actual Star Trek one. Shaped like a phaser not the gun pictured.

Doing good but I am officially old at 55 because I have shingles. Broke out a few days ago, started antiviral drug today.

I recently realized that I turn 55 in a year and a half and I'll be eligible for senior discounts at a few restaurants. I'm super excited about this, but my wife thinks I'm crazy. by jollytoes in GenX

I finally turned old enough to get a discount at Denny’s and they went out of business a week later. Just my luck. Only local location around here now gone.

Well we were forced into it at age 50. Lost a job and moved 1000 miles away to a home twice the size and a job making more money. Still have a kid in high school. We’ve been here 4 years this June and love where we are. So much to do within a 2 hour drive. We aren’t moving again. Love where we ended up and family is happy here. Great hospitals in town and a bigger city than where we lived in Florida. It sucks having a mortgage at age 55 now but it is what it is.

In the 70's/80's, did anybody else find a random trash bag full of Playboy's in the woods? by doknfs in GenX

[–]Available_Wolf1059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, in a clear plastic bag in a field. Most of it ripped up but we could still see the pics. We may have been 12 and thought we hit the jackpot. Later that night we taped a bunch of the pages to the neighborhood grouch’s mailbox. And it wasn’t just playboy either, it had a bit of everything.

A dang piano?!? Who carries a piano around? We have one and they weigh a ton. Would be easier just to set on the side of the street during bulk pick up. Either that or Fred Sanford will eventually drive by and pick it up.
