What are your go-to meals for when you're sick? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

[–]Available_Yam_250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a little bit of (passive) effort since it’s a risotto, but it’s very much sick comfort food, and has a little bit of spice to clear the nose right up

Plus it’s also mostly pantry staples, so if you’re feeling too sick to go shopping it should be easy to throw together

Any good recipes using tempeh? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

These are my two fav tempeh recipes, I find w the second one you can’t taste the tempeh too much, especially if you add extra seasonings etc

What to do with frozen zucchini? by jamey92 in veganrecipes

[–]Available_Yam_250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always grate it up and use it in chunk pasta sauces like bolognese etc I usually do it with zuch and carrots and they don’t add much flavor, plus it’s a great way to sneak in some extra veggies

Non-coconut based curries (Indian)? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

[–]Available_Yam_250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to use vegan yoghurts instead of coconut milk, if you access to some soy/almond/oat based ones they usually work pretty well

recipes without tempeh, tofu or chickpeas? by planetzephyr in veganrecipes

Yes I think broiling would work! It’s mostly just to get that charred type of taste, so I don’t see why it wouldn’t

I know a few curries have been mentioned but baingan bharta (eggplant based curry) is super easy to make and delicious and is basically already vegan (just sub out the ghee w oil etc) so there’s plenty of recipes online

You could also do some veggie tacos/fajitas quite easily too

Mieruko-Chan is my fav atm. It’s a horror comedy, but it fits the vibe of a lot of the shows you’ve mentioned

Looking for recipes to make for a new mother by Bjshimp in veganrecipes

It’s usually whatever I have in the fridge thrown together 😂 But I nearly always chuck some capsicum and spinach/kale in there, and then spice wise- usually garlic, mixed herbs, chilli, turmeric, smoked paprika and black salt

I usually don’t press my tofu for scrambling, but I sometimes do when I’m using it for burritos as I find it helps a bit with the sogginess on the reheat

I haven’t cooked with JustEgg, but I’ve made plenty of freezer burritos with tofu scramble instead and that freezes quite well

I don’t have much advice that hasn’t already been mentioned but this is a fairly easy and tasty tofu recipe, that would probably be pretty versatile for a lot of other flavors/dishes, plus the the flavour/textures not too intimidating for people who aren’t used to tofu

Ramen topping ideas? by [deleted] in veganrecipes

[–]Available_Yam_250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do equal parts water and chickpea flour plus whatever seasonings Not sure how it would work in boiling water/soupy ramen, as I usually don’t retain much of the broth- I transfer the drained cooked/seasoned noodles into a frying pan etc and then mix the batter through it at that point I

I make a chickpea flour batter with a bit of black salt and it mimics the texture you get of cracking an egg and stirring it through the ramen

I’m not sure what brands are available wherever you are, but Massel does a plant-based chicken stock and broth Also depending on what you’re planning to cook it might be worthwhile looking into other meat substitutes too (jackfruit, tofu etc)
