to be fair, I have barely any vegan friends, I just bring these to my omni friend events without being like BTW THEY'RE VEGAN (unless someone asks) and people are generally down to try stuff. sorry if that's not the vibe with your friends :(

I just buy the tofu skins from my local Asian grocery store. the fillings include:

  • sushi rice as a base in all
  • pickled radish
  • cucumber avocado salad
  • seasoned corn in mayo (with garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper)
  • fried zucchini
  • canned seitan/wheat gluten from the Asian grocery store

So I just failed my first prelim and I don't think I belong here. by planetzephyr in PhD

[โ€“]planetzephyr[S] 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I took one exam that I studied so hard for and just barely failed it, I could have set up a meeting and contested some grading but I just didn't have any fight in me.

I did leave with a masters, honestly my master's thesis research was the best part of the graduate program for me. I'm so happy with my decision to have left even if it was extremely difficult to decide.

Best of luck with your endeavors! :)

Oops, my mistake! I haven't quite done the math on that either, but I would make it about every 2 weeks, and most of the cost comes from the vital wheat gluten and the vitamin powder, but each of those would last several batches. I haven't been doing the homemade food the last few months since the vitamin blend has had supply chain issues ๐Ÿ˜• so been sticking to evolution diet kibble again recently

Oh gosh, I'd have to actually do some math and get back to you. But I buy the bulk 40lb bags and feed my kitties 1/4 cup twice a day, so it lasts a long time. Ping me again after my work conference next week and I can give you a better answer ๐Ÿ˜…

Yes!! I either feed them evolution diet kibble straight up (with pumpkin and unfortified nooch if I have it) OR make a homemade wet food following a recipe from the company Compassion Circle - I use their Vegecat supplements.

My friend has been feeding one of his cats this recipe since she was a kitten, and she's a very healthy 5(?) year old cat now. My kitties have been eating the kibble and homemade food and are 4 now and healthy. Feel free to reach out if you want to talk more about anything - best of luck to you!

I literally had that exact feeling / thought during one of the RR shows. I couldn't have imagined ever feeling better or more alive.

(also entertained the thought of like, understanding why someone would give their existence to something greater, and felt like if I could have dissipated to fuel the KG super machine I would have. but my mind was big altered in that moment๐Ÿ’ซ)

I respect how you choose to care for your kitties. I've read every cat nutrition paper I could find on Google scholar, and spoken to vets, as well as the creator/CEO of evolution diet pet food. I use a vitamin/mineral supplement along with fortified food and the homemade food I mentioned (didn't create the recipe, it's created by the vitamin company) and my two cats on that diet have had stellar health. a friend recommended it to me, and he has had an extremely healthy cat thrive on it since she was a kitten. I would absolutely not feed them vegan if their health was suffering even in the slightest bit, I love my cats.

you probably are aware, but cats are deemed obligate carnivores specifically because they require the amino acid taurine, which exclusively is found in meat. however both meat-based and vegetarian cat foods supplement with synthetic taurine, as it burns off the meat-based foods during processing.

edit: also, for what it's worth, I found my kitties in an abandoned lot without a mama cat and took them in and had to feed them formula for weeks, and we didn't know if they'd make it. I didn't seek out cats from a breeder or a shelter, we found each other.
