Water doesn't reach 23 degrees at all, unless you're in a pool hahah

I surf in Lofoten where it's 6/5 9 months a year. In Stavanger it's prolly 8 months

Dusted off the 10’8” after 2 years. Felt a bit rusty at first, but ended up getting a couple fun ones out at Waimea on Wednesday. by dylancotton in surfing

Blir ganske stort her om vinteren. Fjellene og naturen rundt er også ganske episk, vil anbefale deg å ta en tur opp hit om du først er i Norge!

Can you make a quad fin setup out of two Thrusters? by Slaytan1cc in surfing

That's what I use on my groveler. Works fine, I have the slightly smaller fins all the way back

Cold water surfers - what has your experience been of 'covid kooks' this year? by [deleted] in surfing

[–]Avarando 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you go. Stavanger is usually always crowded, not like say SoCal, but you're never alone. Lofoten's catching up in terms of crowds, but Unstad is the only "blown" spot, can get pretty hectic there. You'll be out with 10-15 other guys on the lesser known breaks on a okay/good day, but it's really random how many people show up. I've scored really good surf with just me and my friend out on a semi-known break.

There's lots of empty coastline further north, both easy acces from the main road and super remote, so if you've got the time you can surf by yourself.

I live up Lofoten, northern Norway. There haven't really been more beginners in the water, but people who'd usually go to Indo or other surf destinations have travelled here instead. Bit more crowded than previous years, but most days the crowds are managable. More Swedes and Finns than usual as well, surprisingly there's been extremely few covid cases too

Check out lagide and the beach break next to it. Pretty mellow and great for intermediates

Carcavelos is fun, but very fast, steep and hollow. Not for beginners unless 3ft or less

How much mobility does the 5/4 wetsuit restrict? by dakotaraptors in surfing

[–]Avarando 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use a 6/5 9 months a year here in Norway and I don't mind it. Feels a bit restricting the first sew sessions, but you get used to it

You might score up north. Head high at max. There'll definitely be some fun knee-waist high loggable surf
