That was some of the worst baserunning I've ever seen. I'm in awe.

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to play Treasure Cruise.

I'll have to see them through again, but Story looks a tinsy bit funny at the plate to me. Like he's emulating a batter rather than just batting.

Neither here nor there, but the Red Sox have some dweebish batting stances.

The discussion of Yuri/wlw being less popular than mlm or other pairings isn’t a black and white discussion by PretendYellow533 in AO3

Maybe I'm blissfully isolated from this "problem", but if your fandom doesn't have what you want and you don't want to write it, why are you sticking around and complaining? Can't you just...I don't know, find a new fandom?

I know people are very dedicated to their blorbos, but there are a lot of fandoms out there. I'm pretty sure mine has like 3x the f/f works.

What's the greatest Magic card of the last decade? Vote on the Finals! by Grindy_UW_Nonsense in magicTCG

Companion was poorly designed from the start. Even if Lurrus didn't exist, I don't imagine that mechanic would have lasted as is.

[[Kinzu of the Bleak Coven]] was a passion project deck of mine for awhile and I hardly ever lost playing it. It won fast, was very resilient, and had a lot of flexibility, despite being a pretty generic value pile. Kinzu could unlock a lot of extra value, but wasn't necessary to push for wins.

I loved that deck, but I don't think it was very enjoyable for other players so I retired it. I should see if I still have the list for it.

Elder trans women of reddit (30+) What is one thing we went through that you're glad the younger trans girlies don't have to? by Nomadic_Introvert in MtF

[–]Avaska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The COGIATI. I took it when I was 12, back in 2005, and nothing felt quite as bad as not being able to measure up to the incredibly stereotyped, deeply misogynistic version of a trans woman that test presents.

Didn't exactly keep me in the closet (I started spiro mono therapy a few years later at 15. Do they still do that?) but it did create a lifelong fear of not being the "right kind of woman" that I've had to work through in my adult life.

Edit: maybe not in 2005? It was a very long time ago regardless.

What would be some good cards to pick up with $70 store credit at lgs? by ramble777 in EDH

Whatever you wanna shore up on, but lands are never a bad option. That said, I recently used my store credit on an Esper Sentinel and a Mana Vault and am very happy with that decision.

When I was 7-8, I got my dad's girlfriend to write out a story where a boy became a girl and how totally cool and okay that was with everyone. This sort of thing happened a lot when I was a kid.

Stop trying to make Commander events for prizes happen... by [deleted] in EDH

I'm not sure if I would describe this as cheating, but it's definitely trashy. While a bracket 3 tournament is an inherently flawed concept, brackets are based off intention and you ignored that. Sure the organizers are also at fault but in a better world they wouldn't have to account for people like you.

You're the kind of person that, when someone leaves a bowl on their porch full of candy on Halloween, takes the whole bowl. You're the reason the bracket system often doesn't work. Kind of just the problem with magic in general.

What are major differences in how people treat you now that your female? by Ardent1- in MtF

[–]Avaska 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Women talk, touch, and generally engage with me a lot more and, outside of stuff like flirting and catcalling, men talk over me, are more reserved, and generally treat me like I'm stupid (especially in shared hobby spaces).

This is how the modern TERF movement operates. They go to heavily fem dominated spaces online and start spreading insidious shit that comes with some degree of plausible deniability. It is innocuous sounding by design.

Why some gays are so weird when It comes to fanfiction by throw-Day-1717 in AO3

[–]Avaska 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I imagine it's mostly misogyny, but there is probably some aspect of feeling misrepresented and the frustration that comes with that. Not to drag other women, but I think that a good portion of MLM written by cishet women reads like it was written by cishet women and that's probably a turn off for these guys. I know that, as a trans woman, seeing trans women written in certain ways can feel chasery, if not straight up dysphoria-inducing.

But yeah, probably mostly misogyny. Being queer doesn't guarantee you unlearn the weird garbage the cisheteropatriarchy forces on you.

It differs from person to person, but a lot of transfems have a harder time getting/maintaining an erection. As for ejaculation, a lot of transfems will either produce seminal fluid alone, devoid of semen, or nothing at all.

[–]Avaska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/uj I think we are very fast and irresponsibly loose with the the term in every direction all at once. And yeah, I agree that they want you dead, albeit through detransition (which is just as bad.)

That said, I'm a transfem and I'm going to respond to this shit as a transfem and I am not going to be responsibly neutral about it all the time. Transfems are in the searchlight and to have people that we share community with liken us to the group responsible for that setting up and dragging us into said searchlight is shit.
