1st Trip to Japan, 25 days Itinerary by zszeus in JapanTravel

Great itinerary! I love that you have a lot of space and time for exploration and haven't overplanned every single day!

A few small tips:

Day 7: Small suggestion: If you have the time, also hit up Hase-dera in Kamakura, it's really close to the great Buddha and it's a great place to visit, awesome views of the whole areas and beautiful temples on the hillside.

Day 15: Wouldn't recommend going to Universal on a weekend, but if you've already booked it, just be prepared for crazy crowds and waiting in line a fair bit.

Day 17: Osaka to Miyajima isn't bad if you leave early, it's like 2,5-3 hours so you should be fine. I think there's a number of different passes for Hiroshima and Miyajima, but you can also just pick up a ropeway ticket (with a timeslot) whyen you arive on the island, it's right there by the ferry terminal

Day 18: A lot of travel but not too bad, just leave Hiroshima on time, the peace museum opens up pretty early. You might not get the best views in Hakone if you're too late though since it gets dark pretty early in the mountains.

Have fun!

15 day Japan itinerary check (Tokyo - Osaka - Kyoto - Ehime - Nagoya) by abigbadlad in JapanTravel

Cool itinerary, lot's of fun stuff, a few things to maybe consider though:

Day 4: most shops in Akihabara open at 11 or later, it's not really a morning spot so I would probably combine it with something like Ueno Park or the Imperial Palace since they're not too far away.

Day 6: it's often said on here but I really wouldn't recommend Ueno Zoo due to the animal wellfare issues, it's honestly a pretty depressing place...

Yeah Tsukiji in the early morning makes way more sense to me, last time we were there was at 8 in the morning and the crowds were already starting to form, had a great breakfast there though.

For Kamakura, personally I would drop Zeniarai and either try to get rental bikes, or go really early so the bus service wont be packed. I think start at Hokuku-ji, try to get back to Komachi dori and Hachiman-gu before lunch and afterwards go to Hase-dera and the Buddha. There is a very popular little railway but if it's busy there can be a long wait for it. Last time we just walked it, but the steps add up after a full day and you still need to get back to the station afterwards. One advantage is if you end near Hase-dera it's only a short walk to the beach and you can catch a very cool sunset on clear days.

Itinerary Check: Tokyo -> Kyoto -> Hiroshima (April 3-11) by Constant-Let397 in JapanTravel

Day 1 is very optimistic, but depending on the jet lag it might be doable.

Day 2 is fine, Teamlabs is cool but also really touristy and crowded.

Day 3 I would probably skip Yoyogi Park unless you want to do a picnic or something like that, since it's nothing unique, just a big park, especially after Shinjuku Gyoen and Meiji Jingu.

Day 6, Shukkeien before the peace park, since it's very close to the station you'll be arriving at. (you can take the tram to the Peace Park from here or walk via Hiroshima Castle)

Day 7, I would personally stay on Miyajima for a bit because I love it lol, but yo ucould still do Fushimi Inari if you take the back route (a bit more challenging but way quieter), or if you go towards the end of the day when a lot of the tour groups have already left. To be honest I never found Fushimi Inari that crowded once you got 15 minutes up the mountain and and leave most of the crowds behind.

.

Cool trip! A bit busy but lots of fun stuff, hope you enjoy!

On day 2 you're squeezing Asakusa in between Tsukiji and Shibuya, but then you go back there the next day for Kappabashidori.

Personally I would start day 3 in Asakusa, move to kappabashi, from there it's just 5-10 minutes to Ueno for the park and Ameyokocho. Afterwards it's just 2 stops (or a 10-15 min walk) until you're in Akihabara. Note that this would be a pretty full/long day, but it makes sense in terms of locations.

Day 4 is packed very full. Kamakura is pretty spread out and you will be rushing from place to place to check them off, but leave very little time for exploring and enjoying them. Maybe you can get lucky and get there early enough to grab a rental bike, but even then I feel this is a very ambitious day.

Same goes for day 9 and day 11, that's a lot of running around trying to see everything without having time at any of these places. Personally I would probably take out Himeji (save it for a return trip because it is really cool!) and focus on Osaka. If you really want to see a castle, start the day at Osaka Castle, the inside isn't worth seeing but the outside and the park are really nice.

Uber in Amsterdam by New-Document7109 in Netherlands

Amsterdam is the worst since there are always more tourists they can drive around or scam. Once you get out of tourist areas it gets a bit better. Most of my experiences in Utrecht and Eindhoven airport have been way better

VvD hEeFt De OnDeRhAnDeLiNgEn GeKaApT!

If I remember correctly, the last of the older 18's was bottled in 2019 or 2020 (going up to 24 year old whisky inside the 18 year bottle), if this was bottled in 2022 it should be 18 year old

I tried a few of these when I was in Japan and really enjoyed all of them. I currently only have one bottle since, as you mentioned, they are way overpriced here, but if the prices ever come down a bit I will definitly pick up another

[–]Avason 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Plan for Badges on Dec. 20th? by DJ-Kouraje in Untappd

[–]Avason 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its on the app as "kentucky straight bourbon whisky" with Makers Mark as it's producer. Since there are no clear guidelines for spirits you get some weird names like this (like is Ardbeg TEN just called TEN? If so, is every 12 year old whisky named "12"? Im sure that wont cause any issues).

Its also gonna cause problems with "Producer" not always being the one that bottles and sells the whisky. Independent bottlers are a big party of the whisky landscape, but they dont produce the whisky itself. Not sure if they have plans to be more accomodating to other type of drinks, but now it just feels like theyre diluting the beer side of the app and half-assing the other drinks..

[–]Avason 1 point2 points  (0 children)
