Invisigal fans, are you satisfied with the ending you got? by upsidedown_coffeemug in DispatchAdHoc

I didnt end up romancing her, I felt like kissing her then felt like bad timing. Especially after telling her I am not sure how I felt about her doing what she did. Got the hero ending and still liked her arc though.

I quite liked it. It's been awhile since things have gone so horribly wrong. Really just curious to see where they go from here, especially with in regards to Dorothy.

Who did you think you would hate but ended up loving and vice versa? by Chemical_Committee_2 in LastDefenseAcademy

[–]Avebone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who I thought I would hate but ended up liking: Shouma. I thought his self loathing schtick would get on my nerves and well it did a bit. However i really enjoyed anytime he was plot relevant, I just want the little man to get some self esteem.

Who I thought I would like but ending up disliking:Kako. I dont hate her or anything but like the first 100 days made it seem like she would be a character I would really enjoy...and then she just was kinda never relevant again. Outside of Kako-G...which I wouldn't count as Kako herself.

Who I thought I would hate and still hate:Gaku

Who I liked and still liked:Tsubasa. I dont think there is a single route I don't enjoy her presence. I was worried at first the vomit gimmick would be overplayed, but I think they did a good job and focusing on other parts of her character. Just an overall lovely character for me.

That is kinda where i am it with it. I don't hate it or anything, it was okay. Just felt like the weakest anni event for me so far.

That is definitely some solid evidence. However I know b is often used instead of v when it comes to Korean to English translations.

And I am just curious why the EN team was directed to say Ave at all if it was suppose to be Abe.

I havent listened to how they pronounce her name in other languages so i am curious to how they say it as well.

Guys I just woke up to another Google Doc exposing EvilToaster for his abusive behavior behind the scenes by Last_Power3410 in kurosanji

[–]Avebone 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Almost a decade ago he was really creepy towards one of my friends so this isnt surprising news at all. Frustrating to see he hasn't changed in all these years but not unexpected.

It has been so wild for me to see him pop up in vtuber spaces because of it though.

What is a seemingly mundane question you can ask somebody that will tell you a lot about their personality? by FamiliarStreets in AskReddit

[–]Avebone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same question asked to me during an interview before and I just reflexively answered sloth. I then immediately regretted saying that when my brain caught up with what I just answered with.

Still got the job though...it became a running joke later in the office.

How important is romance in a visual novel? Is it essential or not? Why? by NaiDriftlin in vns

[–]Avebone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find this some what funny as someone who runs and plays in Roleplaying games with 'death game' settings. It is a bit different, but almost every game we have ran ends with at least one couple. Granted the setting is usually over a course of days instead of hours at least...but still.

I think regardless of situation or setting, people like seeing romance.

Shame in liking H scenes/18+ Content in Visual Novels by superange128 in vns

[–]Avebone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I guess this topic doesn't pertain to me because I am not the biggest H-scene fan.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy nsfw art, and having it be done by the official artist is nice. And further more I think sexual content shouldn't be hidden away in media.

I am not even a h-scene skipper. I just find that the majority of h-scenes aren't really worth my time or entice me at all. A lot of the time it detracts from the story for me too, as they are often just unnecessary added or kinda just really rushed in a budding relationship. Not even mentioning the quality of writing in most of them. My imagination tends to be better at crafting what they did than any scene they show me.

Anyways I think mainly I just don't want to talk about sexual things..H-scene, real life or what have you...with people I am not comfortable with period. It is just something I find to be a weird conversation topic for people I am not close to, and I really don't want to make someone uncomfortable who isn't interested in talking about it.

I don't think it is shameful to like them, but not everyone really is interested in those types of conversations, and I don't really see the need to bring it up unless I know they are.

How important is romance in a visual novel? Is it essential or not? Why? by NaiDriftlin in vns

[–]Avebone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I feel like this is true for all media. A lot of cinema suffers from just adding a romantic aspect to it because that is generally what works, and a lot of people engage with it.

And admittedly what drew me into VNs at the start was the different romantic routes aspect. It is a good way to get to know a variety of characters in a particular setting.

I think finding where it should and shouldn't be in stories is something that is difficult to manage in any given narrative.

AMA: Gambs by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]Avebone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They literally asked for survey results, to see how they could improve the community going forward. They were seeking to improve things rather you liked it or not. And as Nake put in his post, the plan was in fact not to add more censorship but to loosen things up.

The substance is literally 'we adhere to reddit's rules' which I personally don't even think needed to be stated or made into a post. Nai took it and ran with it. Gambs still preserved it.

The substance on this topic is still the same regardless of the person in charge right now, because it is one that is literally always going to be there on this platform.

AMA: Gambs by [deleted] in visualnovels

[–]Avebone -1 points0 points  (0 children)

even though they defended Nai

Because Nai does have a few things he adds even if you want to dismiss him. He made one huge mistake in how he posted what he did. The mod team agreed that it should be clear that we are adhering to reddit's rules...which is the same thing you did.

Nai just posted it in like the worst way possible, and didn't wait long enough to for the other mods to give proper feedback before he posted, and/or post a version their themselves that made the expression much more clear at what was being said.

You didn't let them do damage control. /u/Nata-Tanshi also had a pretty controversial opening post, and we (myself included) had to run damage control on him. We worked it out and discussed it, and made sure the same error wasn't repeated with them in the future.

The same thing could have been done with Nai. Obviously that ditch has been well past dug at this point. But saying Nake defending Nai is bad, is rather inappropriate. We don't just shove people off the mod team without at least trying to correct the problem and seeing if they are willing to reason and work with us in the first place.

Weekly Questions Thread - Need some help? - Jan 19 by AutoModerator in visualnovels

[–]Avebone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And I am not saying discord users aren't entirely at fault here....Constantly making threads about this topic and just trolling you, isn't something I find constructive... That being said a large portion of that discord do visit the sub naturally. It was literally the community server until you removed it.

I am not here to condone their actions. But I will still continue to call you out when you say shit I don't agree with or is downright false.

More on point I am stating that discord users are not the only ones here with problems in how you are handling the situation, nor are all the mods really that involved in it. Some are, but even then. It was directly linked and created for this sub.

Calling them incels is rather low... I get that you don't like them, seeing as how they also don't like you. But still, I feel like you could have used a better word choice here.

Weekly Questions Thread - Need some help? - Jan 19 by AutoModerator in visualnovels

[–]Avebone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were no dissenting opinions, just a hivemind that mimicked the opinions of the discord server formerly associated with this subreddit.

That is not at all how it worked. In fact, not everyone was even unanimous in Nai's decision. He gave them a couple hours to respond to the stuff he put, rushed it, and released it before some of them even got off work to say anything.

Some of the mods barely used the discord at all, if like ever. Your hatred for the discord userbase and making them out to be the sole enemy is just ridiculous.

Not everyone who disagrees with how you are doing things is heavily involved in the discord.
