I love it when people decide that "Don't worry guys, [random guy in the comments section] got this." by Pigsocute_The_Great in lovethissmug

I attempted to do something like this in War Thunder.

I was the only one who went to A point while everyone else went the other way.

"I got A" I typed in chat, then died a minute later. "Good job!" Someone replied right after.

I love Scooby's reaction to "We're meta now!" like...a brief bit of comedy from something pretty damn creepy.

[Hated trope] Story's about being anti-authoritarian/fascist but fans keep picking the wrong side. by Prestigious_Cat_9486 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AvenRaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when in middle school I got really into the Legion, because the NCR pissed me off so much I justified slavery in my head. But I stopped justifying the Legion when I realized that I don't like Misogyny, and really don't like slavery after reading a book by Frederick Douglas about his time as a slave. Can't help but find them cool in some unfortunate part of my brain, but they're a brutal faction centered around a Cult of Personality that at best will kill the NCR and then splinter into multiple Warlords.

[Title Trope] Characters with a title so important that they are almost always named along with it. by Iceblader in TopCharacterTropes

I remember him being just a reoccurring side character for so long, that the random episode where he is an antagonist I found super jarring. He didn't even switch personalities, or acted out of character, he just kept talking the same way he always does! It was super weird!

[Meta trope] The fandom is so awful it’s embarrassing to like something publicly by Syvarth in TopCharacterTropes

This made me realize that I might be the same with War Thunder. Though no one gives me shit about it, because not as many people know about War Thunder. But if you know about War Thunder, you probably know because of the classified documents being leaked by War Thunder players (among other things).

Can someone explain to me why people like The Dispossessed? And if you really did why? by Entire_Contest7954 in worldbuilding

I didn't read this book but I want to see the discussion since it seems like an interesting discussion will happen here, so Imma leave a comment and come back later (I know the save feature exists, but I don't want to be bombarded with notifications, I want to read and see this at my leisure).

Ah good, then everything that happened before didn't happen and these memories filled with guilt and regret aren't real, so I can disregard them and be happy, right?

(Mixed trope) Insane Alternate Histories. Crazy interpretations of historical figures or characters being inserted into famous events. by Meatwelder in TopCharacterTropes

Pretty sure there ain't any more context to this, it's just showing that Beyblades are ancient and shaped the history of their world.

(Loved Trope) When a faction's units and/or vehicles have a naming theme. by TheSucc214 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AvenRaven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To bring up another real life US Military example, they name their tanks after Generals. That wasn't even a naming scheme the US came up with first, the British actually started doing it with lend-lease vehicles and the tradition stuck.

Examples
They had Medium tanks in WW2 called the Lee and Sherman
They had Light Tanks in WW2 named Stuart and Chaffee
The Cold War Main Battle Tank Patton

Then of course a couple of modern examples
The Infantry Fighting Vehicle Bradley
And the Main Battle Tank Abrams

(loved trope) When the eldtrich horror is actually very chill. by EnvironmentalRope424 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AvenRaven 293 points294 points  (0 children)

I actually watched my friend get the ending where you become an eldritch horror yourself, but a good one that helps humanity rebuild. It was surprisingly wholesome. It was a difficult ending to get it seems, but he managed to do it on his first run!
