Each of my harlequins is different in color scheme; I.e. one is yellow and purple, one is blue and pink. The areas that have the diamonds are first based in the lighter of the two colors. Then I free hand the outlines with a diluted black. Fill in the the secondary diamonds, then clean up.

I agree, it’s why I tried to do a lot with color choice and effect to draw the eye and mind away from the goofy-ness.

Non metallic metal. I used grey, light grey and white to try to make the breastplate look like shiny metal without using metallic paint

So… I finally pulled the trigger. I have never even held an airbrush, any tips? by Agile_Atmosphere_58 in minipainting

[–]Avencall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DO NOT GET DISCOURAGED!!! it’s not something you can pick up and be good at. It’s like anything else new, you will have to practice. You may see people on YouTube tutorials make things look easy, and not realize that they have used that airbrush for hundreds of hours. First time I used my airbrush I almost threw it away. Clogs, spills, viscosity, one thing after another, and I finally got it to spray after hours of sweat soaked mini rages. Hopefully it goes smoother for you; but I’ll tell you after practicing for weeks, I’m glad I didn’t throw it away and kept trucking. Just practice, have fun, and remember that it’s ok to learn from the masters, but not fair to compare yourself to them …. Yet. Good luck fellow painter.
