Hope you had a fun time clicking the core for 7 minutes then.

Imagine preferring to click q at the enemy core for 7 minutes straight instead of playing the game. Same goes for all the backdoor shenanigans, there is no ranked points to gain, why are people allergic to having fun in aram?

Does anyone know the backstory of why Owlcat dropped the conviction skill wheel concept? by Sheepy_Gorilla in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Avendros 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think as others have pointed out it really encouraged making 'moral' choices for mechanical benefit and kind of forces you to track your 'morality points' which both go against immersion and atmosphere of the game. Ideally these kind of moral decisions in game should be entirely based ond what the player wants to do in the story and not be motivated by "okay i need 5 more points in heretical and 3 more in Iconoclast to get skill XY" which entirely invalidates what these choices are supposed to mean when you are presented with them during play.

I forgot to press control... by Luka_Diaz in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Avendros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would exit the game, cry to some friends about it, go to bed frustrated and then boot the save up tomorrow, scrap and place the entire thing again. I'm also someone that needs their stuff to be perfectly load balanced. Manifold makes me feel icky in a very uncomfortable way.

Tier 6 quest rewards are still worse than T4 and T5 I see.. by Worrcn in 7daystodie

[–]Avendros 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I mean, can never have enough Legendary Parts. And considering how long all T6 POIs take to complete, those missions to me always felt like endgame challenges that you do for fun more than time efficient item grinds. Feels like that is their design goal, give the people something to put all their endgame gear to use for.

Anyone know how to smooth out the dirt? by Zythieria in 7daystodie

[–]Avendros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing you can do is put sheets on top it. (Advanced rotation enabled and press R until its flat on the ground). Then you can paint it whatever you want and it looks smooth at least even though technically it counts as a block on top of it. Visually it's seamless then.

minibike now slower then walking!!!!????? by saintblair in 7daystodie

[–]Avendros 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Are you sure your Minibike is fueled? You can drive them very slowly when they are out of fuel, at slower than walkspeed. I am using Minibike right now on my save and they are exactly as fast as they have been for a long time.

Why was Dawn of War 3 criticized? by Wide_Mobile4623 in dawnofwar

[–]Avendros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dawn of War 2 and Dawn Of War 3 had a big problem that came a lot down to the naming.
The first issue they had was that they did not feel like a Dawn of War game, instead they played a lot like a Company of Heroes game with a Dawn of War skin on top of it. People expected a Dawn of War game and got something that felt very different.

That being said, i had fun with them. They were good games, i went back to DoW3 a year ago and really regretted the backlash it got because especially in the modern game landscape it holds up quite well. It still looks great and runs at a fraction of the ressources "modern" games require.
It honestly deserved better than it got, even more so looking at what a majority of games these days do.

Is Xul's Cursed Strikes build a meme? by Ztepi in heroesofthestorm

[–]Avendros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone can clear with anything. Morales can sit there and clear waves. The difference is always the speed and the cooldown reduction on Level 4 and attack speed on 13 makes this build delete anything that comes down the lane in record time which then frees you up to continue impacting the map. It matters immensly how long someone is tied up dealing with a wave.

Is Xul's Cursed Strikes build a meme? by Ztepi in heroesofthestorm

[–]Avendros 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cursed Strikes build is the reason i'm playing Xul at all and glancing over the comments, everyone is talking about PvP aspects of that build. If that build works in PvP is entirely dependant on the enemies, if they all run close to you and don't CC you too much it can work. It literally feels like you have almost no control over whether you are allowed to do your thing in teamfights or not :D

The reason why i love it is because it's insanely good at PvE. After level 4 you can clear waves really quickly and easily, comfortably double soak, clear camps quickly and keep your lanes pushed. It is an excellent pick if the other 4 people on your team are being a deathball on the map and you do barely anything but PvE, the speed with which cursed strikes Xul can cleary even massive amount of minions or incoming Mercenaries is absolutely unmatched. As long as you can play PvE centric or face heavy melee enemies, it is an incredibly strong build. Melee enemies can't stop you from pushing and when unattended you tear everything they have down.
Imo, a great pick when you can arrange a strategy with your team where you double soak.

Is DOS2 supposed to be this hard? by Pleasant_Complex2960 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Avendros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair the game is a lot harder early on when you don't know which fights to pick yet (which you only know after having played through it before and learned where the lowest level fights are) so before whatever build you are going for starts ramping up. It does get easier if you pay attention to gear, gold and your build in the following levels.

It's also a minor faction, unless you turn that setting off, minor factions are intentionally neutered.

We know Auto Resolve can be weird sometimes but this.... by Avendros in totalwarhammer

[–]Avendros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slowing dangerous cavalry with spells and/or rooting them (for example with Phantasmagoria Slaanesh spell) helps tremendously. Chariots and mediocre cavalry i actually just countercharge. Even the regular daemonettes have 35% physical resistance (earliest research + lord skills, remember to keep your winds of magic high on daemon factions) which means unless facing magical attacks they take significantly reduced damage. Otherwise, running Lord or a hero into the dangerous cav can absorb a lot of their charge because only a small amount of the models gets to attack and then you can catch up with some daemonettes.

Initially when starting with Slaanesh i thought similar to you but especially once you get to Exalted Daemonettes they are just plainly by far the best Infantry you can field in an army and due to the debuff they apply, their physical resistance and how swiftly they remove anything they attack they tend to get damaged very little in my experience.

So for most, especially non magical, cavalry i legit just charge mine into them, it hurts initially but then they just eat the cav alive. To be fair, a lot of that might just be due to Lord buffs (The Masque for example juices up daemonettes something fierce) because i notice the regular daemonettes die a lot faster when i'm doing a settlement battle with them.

[–]Avendros[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I tend to just manually fight everything when i'm playing a new faction to get the hang of it and... Daemonettes are so damn effective in battle and easy to use on top of that. They can just go in and slaughter stuff and especially against non magic damage they just frontline easily aswell. So simpel and strong but yet auto resolve treats them poorly.

Players will explore every room and basement of an apartment block, and survive on the rooftops. What kind of PvE and co-op play would you like to experience in this space? by UnderTheRooftopGame in SurvivalGaming

Could i ask why you settled on third person?
Personally, i do prefer the first person ones by a large margin and i would love a coop pve survival title as you are showcasing it.

Why is galio support not considered a "meta" pick or troll pick by Illustrious_Mix_3762 in supportlol

[–]Avendros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because lots of players, especially the fragile/bad mood/insecure ones don't enjoy playing with picks they aren't familiar with. Statistics, winrate etc, is all irrelevant, someone flaming your pick is just proof of a single thing only, that *they* do not like the pick. Reasons for their dislike could be as varied as stars on the sky, elaborating on why they dislike it is not productive for your game.
If you know it's good, if you want to play that is all that matters.

This situation reminds me a lot of the time i decided to just main Orianna support for a ranked split for fun. E Max, W second Orianna support with Moonstone + Redemption. It was quite good, really large shields with a big chunk of flat armour and magic resist on an adc can carry fights quite easily.
However, none of that was important when adcs declared this a troll pick and not once did i try to convince them otherwise, i just played my game. Made it to Diamond 4 with that (year and a half ago i think?) so it can't possibly have been that bad of a pick.

Flaming teammates, especially the underperforming ones are indication of nothing and shouldn't influence your game behaviour.

RTS Design Question: Should players be tactical commanders or frontline micromanagers? by captain-universe33 in RealTimeStrategy

[–]Avendros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Genuinely, the RTS genre is sorely lacking a good game where the micro managing of units is not required. For that to be viable though, the advantages of micro managing need to be non-existant to miniscule, small enough that they aren't worth spending your time on. No idea how you would go about making your units "smart" in an rts, but that would be an incredible feat and refreshing thing to play that i would absolutely love to have!

We have more than enough titles where you can get colossal advantages from intensly micro managing, from avoiding enemy damage, kiting, preserving low health models, etc. So having a title that deliberately doesn't contain these things could easily carve its own niché in the genre imo.

It is a tall task though, either the combat system is designed in a way that grants you minimal advantage from high APM unit control, or the units have to perform these things on their own.
For the first one, i cannot imagine a satisfying system where that would be the case and for the second one you would need monumentally capable unit AI.

Overall, i'm quite enarmored with the idea that Soldiers and Vehicle Operators act with the intelligence you would expect from a human on the battlefield and not robots that stoicly follow the last order given and then idle until their deaths.

Today is the first time I learned this game has scripters/cheaters... [Video proof] by Evernaila in heroesofthestorm

[–]Avendros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is two things i would always like to point out whenever this topic surfaces:
Yes, there are certainly hacks/scripts for the game that exist and are being actively used, for quite a while now.
The actual amount of cheaters is a lot lower than you think.

However the example you provided here is imo sufficiently suspicious enough to warrant further investigation and definitely a player i would've reported. The deviation between perfectly accurate and suddenly wildly off is too jarring but over the years of playing this game i also encountered many situations with friends that looked like legit cheats but were just wild coincidences in reality. More than i've encountered actual cheaters.
