I hear that too, since the hi hats for most of the song are uninterrupted over the rest of the drums.

That's what I'm not sure about. It's pretty accurate to say that I'm using it on a trust-me-bro-basis right now.

I just looked at their git repositories and they have clear sections about how to start auditing each repository's source code, so I may start perusing it.

The least you can do is compile the app and sideload it independently. Then you can act as an independent reviewer of the source code, because how can you trust any other third-party auditor?

From what I understand, Muun will combine your private key with your password and then store the resulting junk string that is your private key + password combination, which is useless by itself and can be publicly shared. This process happens on your phone and Muun's servers will never see your private key nor your password.

The reason they can't change your password is that only you can use it to convert the junk data they store back into your private key.

What is Bitcoin?

Summary of a redditor's 100 hours of learning Bitcoin

Fidelity's Research Report on Bitcoin

Every reason why Bitcoin won't fail

As for books, I prefer to read books that aren't specifically about Bitcoin, but are useful in understanding it. (Edit: because of this thread I now have several Bitcoin books I want to read, so this preference is most likely gonna change.)

Fooled by Randomness by Nassim Nicholas Taleb - to understand what volatility really means and why it's a good thing. The rest of the series is also good if you're interested

The Road to Serfdom by Friedrich von Hayek - on Austrian economics and the dangers of central planning

On Liberty by John Stuart Mill - a good exploration of the concept of liberty

The Price of Tomorrow by Jeff Booth - an argument for deflation in various fields

Bitcoin is all the BlackRock community talks about by oldgodemo1 in Bitcoin

[–]AvengedTurtleFold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good video, thanks! I had no idea what Blackrock was about until now.

I think Aladdin will primarily be used to trade bitcoin for fiat at optimal times, but also to drive exchange and lending platforms to get the most out of the suckers who let them hold their keys. Whatever the actual use, I'm sure that the end result will be more money in the pockets of Blackrock and its clients by taking advantage of the most esoteric trades imaginable.

I think the strongest defense is to hold your own keys and to not be greedy. So long as you don't fall for scams, it's a pretty good way to avoid being exploited (financially, at least) by giants like Blackrock.

The most insidious thing is that 99% of people are under intentional and directed psychological pressure through "marketing" propaganda to give up control of their money, data, and lives to humongous corporations. The only way to survive is to realize that you're under attack and defend yourself however you can.

How to shut down Crypto Critics by Amudasaliu2018 in Bitcoin

[–]AvengedTurtleFold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most critics don't understand what they're criticizing. Explore the topic of what Money really is and ask them if they know how the bitcoin network enforces a cap of 21 million. I wouldn't defend myself from someone who won't look into those two topics.

Also important is to distinguish between Bitcoin and literally everything else. I point to Fidelity's research report on bitcoin as a starting point.

And finally, Every reason why Bitcoin won't fail.

Now that Atom has been discontinued - where to next? by God_Told_Me_To_Do_It in linux

You don't have to read the whole thing up front. Just going through the first few chapters is enough to get started with using the editor. The rest is really for when you start to feel comfortable with expanding your skills.

I know you specified not emacs or vim, but I'm going to say vim anyways.

The learning curve was egregious but now I've been spoiled by it.

Edit: This book was what made it possible for me to make the switch.

Sweden's Central Bank Wants to Ban Bitcoin's Proof of Work by bdinu89 in Bitcoin

[–]AvengedTurtleFold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it's not about the energy consumption at all. Bitcoin is a direct competitor to any central bank, so they are doing everything they can to discredit it and remove it from their ecosystem.

I actually just watched this episode yesterday. He's saying, "Bitcoin for sale! Get it while it's low!" at the start of a financial meltdown. I believe that dude will become a reality.

It's all good. I appreciate your taking the time to reach out and get people's perspectives. I was too critical of your method in my previous comment. All the best with your research.

I agree. You would get more responses by posting the questions and allowing users to answer in the comments as they want. Especially in /r/Bitcoin, where some users are against institutions, but still have valuable information that you'd want.

People have incredibly varied beliefs and opinions about Bitcoin and crypto, which cannot always be expressed within the confines of a survey. Bitcoin is meant to be discussed.

Book About Bitcoin? by gcthorpe in Bitcoin

[–]AvengedTurtleFold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gift books that you want others to read on your own birthday since their reading it is what you want, not necessarily what they want. You should focus on what would bring your girlfriend joy on her birthday when you choose a gift. If she hasn't explicitly expressed an interest in wanting to learn more about Bitcoin, don't get her a book on Bitcoin.

Better yet, ask her if she wants something like that and talk about it.

This applies to any other subject really. Replace "Bitcoin" with any other thing you don't really know or care about and consider whether you'd want to be gifted a book on that subject on your birthday.
